Arab League to Readmit Syria

News:

"Syria is an Arab state, and its natural place is within the Arab League," Khemaies Jhinaoui said during a news conference with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, who is on a tour of North African countries.

The Arab League suspended Syria’s membership in November 2011 as the death toll in the country’s civil war mounted.

"The question of Syria returning to the Arab League does not depend on Tunisia but on the Arab League," Jhinaoui said.

"The foreign ministers (of member states) will decide on this subject," he added. "What interests us is Syria’s stability and security." (Source: The International News 27th January 2019)

Comment:

When Tunisian diplomat and counterpart of Russian envoy Serge Lavrov, Khemaies Jhinaoui said “Syria’s natural place is in the Arab League”, it proves beyond doubt that it was only a matter of time before the Arab nations all of whom have remained complicit throughout the war upon the Syrian people in one way or another, were silently preparing to welcome the Syrian regime back, to once again give them the stamp of legitimacy.

In October 2018 Bashar al Assad had told a little known Kuwaiti newspaper that Syria had reached a “major understanding” with Arab states after years of hostility, adding that Arab and Western delegations had started to visit the country to prepare for the reopening of diplomatic missions. A week later the Nassib border crossing between Jordan and Syria officially opened to civilians and for trade purposes, for the first time since it was closed three years ago.

Arab states have sped up reconciliation efforts with the Syrian regime in recent months, as they perceive that the government has emerged as the victor of the eight-year conflict; and after turning heads when they greeted each other with a hug on the side-lines of the UN General Assembly in New York last year.

Bahrain confirmed that its embassy and the Syrian diplomatic mission in Manama were operational. Subsequently the United Arab Emirates reopened its embassy in Damascus in December, giving a significant boost to the regime; the same month that Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir made the first visit of any Arab leader to the Syrian capital since the start of the war – and most recently, Tunisia has resumed direct flights with Syria. So far only Qatar has rejected normalising ties with Assad.

As Muslims, we cannot remain steeped in the individualism injected by the secular framework that encourages the freedom to be selfish, blind and mute to the affairs of the Ummah and apathetic to the tragedies and oppression it faces.

It has been proven time and again in every city and country, which Muslims reside in, that secular politics, charity and the activism of minority rights, has done nothing to solve the problems created by secular foreign policies, regarding the annihilation of Syria and its people.

It is not controversial nor is it a conspiracy theory to say that the colonial powers who have plotted against the Muslim lands for decades to safeguard their geopolitical interests, to plunder resources, take power and permanently halt any Islamic revival; have no interest in supporting the Syrian people, however devastated their condition within Syria or as refugees outside it is.

Allah (swt) has commanded that we rule by Islam to protect His Revelation from corruption, so the Ummah of Muhammed (saw) and mankind at large can live in peace and justice, and so that that his Ummah is safeguarded from evil and harm, as this is the status, sanctity and right of the believer.

“Verily, those who conceal the clear proofs, evidences and the guidance, which We have sent down, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book, they are the ones cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers. Except those who repent and do righteous deeds, and openly declare (the truth which they concealed). These, I will accept their repentance. And I am the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful” [Surah Al-Baqarah 2:159-160].

May Allah (swt) hasten for us His promise of Khilafah upon the way of the Prophethood; because without the justice and accountability of the rule it brings, there is no way to improve our condition.
