News right Now: Behind the Military Withdrawal

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu. Welcome to News Right Now - Behind the Military Withdrawal

On 19th December, US President Donald Trump stated, "We've been fighting a long time in Syria. I've been president for almost two years and we really stepped it up and we have won against ISIS. We've beaten them and we've beaten them badly. We've taken back the land and now it's time for our troops to come back home."

The decision precipitated a flurry of controversy and discontent, resulting in the resignation of US Secretary of Defence, James Mattis. Why would Trump continue with this plan given the fact that it’s caused so much discord in his own administration?

The timing of the announcement is quite conspicuous because with it implies a power vacuum that will only be filled by the Syrian regime.

In other words, the US withdrawing from Syria gives the regime troops the greenlight to expand eastward and fortify it’s control over areas that it had lost control over as a result of the civil war 7 years ago.

This clearly shows that despite the lip service the US gave to quote-unquote “red lines”, it’s main objective is to protect the regime, whether it is led by Bashar al-Assad or not, and to crush any opposition that proposes an Islamic vision for Syria.

This announcement also shows how the US treats its lackeys in the region, particularly the Kurds, who now feel exposed and caught between the Turkish army on one hand, and the Syrian regime army on the other. They have fulfilled their purpose of defeating ISIS and now are left to fend for themselves.

Lastly, Turkey and the rest of the Arab world exposed their true intentions - to work with the Syrian regime, re-integrate it into the Arab League, and normalize relations with Bashar the Butcher should he win in upcoming elections. Far from a haphazard move by an unpredictable president, the US decision to leave Syria is the final step in a long plan to kill the Islamic sentiments of the uprising against Bashar al-Assad, protect his regime, and assert itself in the region.

The US uses its agents and allies in the region to assert its will, and to remind the world, including the European powers, who runs the show.

The reality is that the withdrawal of US troops does not mean the withdrawal of US influence. The US will continue to use its soft power to shape events in the region, no matter how much bloodshed and turmoil it causes. Until a true Khilafah is established, which disrupts the plans of the superpowers and dethrones the traitors and agents that comply with them, will the situation in Syria or anywhere else in the Muslim world be truly resolved?

Jazakum Allahu khairan for joining us. Wassalamu alaikum wa rahmatuallhi wa barakatuhu.
