The Rand Corporation put the following expressions in its report titled “Turkey’s Nationalist Course: Implications for the U.S. – Turkish Strategic Partnership and the U.S. Army”: “Midlevel officers are reported to be extremely frustrated with the military leadership and concerned about being removed in the continuing post-coup purges. This discontent could even lead to another coup attempt at some point, and Erdoğan appears to take the threat seriously.”

Nine people, many of them are Kurdish in origin, were killed in Hanau, near Frankfurt, Germany during the two shootings. Reuters reported from German official as saying, “The Hanau attack in the Western world was motivated by hatred” (Arab 48)

The contemporary notions of safety and threat in the West are intrinsically linked to the manifestation of Islam in their societies and abroad. As a result, almost every issue related to Islam and the Muslim community is dealt with disturbed obsessiveness, so much so, that in this process, their own liberal values and constitutional freedoms, which they deem so high, are bulldozed over without blinking an eye.

On January 27, 2020, the Almalinsky District Court of Almaty pronounced a sentence against two women: 45-year-old Karlygash Adasbekoy and 29-year-old Daria Nyshanova. Judge Yernar Kasymbekov sentenced each of them to five years of restraint of liberty on charges of “inciting religious hatred and discord” and “participation in the banned organization Hizb ut-Tahrir.”
