Press Release
By Preventing Hizb ut-Tahrir from Holding its Rally the Government has Proven that the Investigation of the BDR Massacre will be a Cover Up
Chief Coordinator and Official Spokesman of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh Mohiuddin Ahmed condemned the government decision to stop the party from holding its rally against ‘the government's ploy to cover up the truth behind the BDR massacre through spurious investigation'. Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh had announced through a press release yesterday that it will hold the rally at 4.00pm today at the city's Muktangon. The police stopped the party from holding the rally when members and activists of the party gathered at the venue.
In a statement issued today Mohiuddin Ahmed said government ministers are raising a hue and cry about the threat of militancy in the country on a daily basis in order to divert the issue. As well as this the Prime Minister herself is giving contradictory statements on the BDR massacre in order to create confusion in the people's minds. Furthermore, inconsistent statements regarding the investigation process are being issued from the government. The coordinator of the three investigation committees, Commerce Minister Lt Col (Retd) Faruk Khan, said on 29th March that the report of the Home Ministry investigation committee is likely to be out in 7 days. On the same day the head of that committee said the report is being written and can be issued in two days. Yet the next day (30 March) the Home Minister Sahara Khatun announced the government decision to extend the deadline for submitting the report by 30 working days.
Hizb ut-Tahrir has been repeating its warning about the government's ploy to save India and her agents. In addition the party in its press conference on 28th March called for interrogating the MP's and government ministers who held negotiations with the killers in the name of so-called ‘political solution'. One such minister, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, has already left the country.
The government is carrying out repression against Hizb ut-Tahrir for exposing India and her agents within the government. The government has become afraid of the party's truthful stance and is hoping to silence the party. By preventing Hizb ut-Tahrir from holding its rally today, the government has once again proven that it is working to save the conspirators and that the investigation of the BDR massacre will be nothing but a cover up.
