Press Release Arrests, remand, and lies are the ugly tools of democracy
The government arrested four more members and activists of Hizb ut-Tahrir yesterday night from Kalabagan, Dhaka. Before that they took senior member of the party, Professor Dr Syed Golam Mawla in remand for three days. They are also spreading false information about the party's links with Jamat-e-Islam, despite the fact that Hizb ut-Tahrir has no remote connection with Jamat-e-Islam, war criminals or militants. These actions of the government show clearly that lies and repression are the ugly tools of democracy. On the one hand the so-called democratic system fails to fulfil the basic needs of the people, while on the other hand it imprisons and tortures those who are presenting Islam as the alternative. The imperialists and their agents do not have the intellectual and political strength to face the ideological challenge of Islam. Hizb ut-Tahrir calls upon the Muslims to reject this democratic system which tortures Muslims and tramples upon the rights of the people; and stand by the sincere sons of the Ummah who are working to implement Islam by re-establishing the Khilafah "Caliphate" state and liberate the Muslim Ummah from imperialist aggression.
