Cameron's desperate lies about Hizb ut-Tahrir are attempts at populist point-scoring
London UK, 25th November 2009- At today's PMQs, the Conservative leader David Cameron again demanded the proscription of Hizb ut-Tahrir with false claims about government funding and running of schools, and he regurgitated baseless allegations.
Taji Mustafa, media representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain said "David Cameron's bare faced lies that Hizb ut-Tahrir runs schools, receives government funding and promotes hatred and violence are another desperate attempt to boost Conservatives poll ratings."
"We will not take accusations on promoting hatred from a party that supported the Iraq war and is in bed with some of the most vile, racist and xenophobic parties preaching hatred across Europe."
"His statement has no basis in fact, was comprehensively rebutted when first made and is the latest addition to their other anti-Muslim policies."
"Despite our numerous challenges to a public debate, Cameron has not had the courage to respond, but chooses to hide behind parliamentary privilege. He provides no evidence but simply relies on spin and will say anything to get elected."
"Regarding his other desperate allegations, it is well known that Hizb ut-Tahrir never accepts any funding from any government. Unlike Mr Cameron and his party, we do not milk the system for money. While David Cameron has had to pay back money to the taxpayer, we do not, and have never, received any form of government funding."
"Hizb ut-Tahrir is an Islamic political party. We do not run the Islamic Shaksiyah Foundation or any other school, and have never run any school."
"While Britain is up to its neck in the war in Afghanistan and the economy is failing, Mr Cameron chooses to use his allotted questions at PMQs on a non-story. This reiterates the fact that Cameron is the true heir to Blair in attempts at cheap populism."
"The Tory front bench seems to be suffering from Schizophrenia. At their conference and last night on Newsnight, Chris Grayling spoke passionately about how the government ‘has eroded civil liberties' and that this was ‘shameful and must be reversed', yet he wants to ban Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic political party with over 50 years of non-violent political activism to end tyranny and dictatorship in the Muslim world. This is the heart of the hypocrisy of freedom espoused by these politicians. On the one hand they justify invading Muslim countries on the basis of securing ‘freedom and democracy', on the other hand they call to shut down political debate by banning organisations. In reality people are only free as long as they obey and follow the rules and laws enacted by these hypocritical and corrupt politicians."
"While desperately trying to portray a ‘liberal' image, their views on Muslims and immigration means that everyone can see that they haven't really changed their spots - they are as nasty as ever."
