Press Release

The Central Media Office (CMO) held a press conference at The Bristol Hotel-Beirut , The party's  media  representatives addressed several political issues: Lebanon, Palestine, Iraq, Sudan, Afghanistan and Pakistan. This press conference comes as follow up to the media conference held in Beirut last July 2010 under the title" Hizb ut Tahrir perspective on important regional and international political issues".

The participants in the conference were met by a high alert military blockade, checkpoints encircling the hotel, blocking the streets leading to the hote, and searching the crossing public; all of which created an atmosphere of tension and terror.

Since when a press conference held by a political party with a longstanding record of dozens of peaceful activities and free of any security threat, as admitted by the security apparatus itself, deserves to be met with such repressive measures!! The reality is that these terror-inspiring measures are all fake and artificial, unwarranted and unjustified on any security risk basis. Instead they have been implemented as per a political decision made by some shadowy circles, without any legal basis, in a failed attempt to associate the party with image of terrorism.

MR Fadi Abdulatif  began the conference by stating that the purpose is to address the recent political developments on major regional and international issues, previously addressed in July conference. He noted that the proceedings of July conference have been published in a book now available to media and concerned parties.

Mr Osman Bakhach, the CMO's director addressed the recent developments in Palestine and Afghanistan highlighting Hizb ut Tahrir's viewpoint. Mr Mohammad Hanafi CMO-Turkey office, addressed the Iraq situation. Osman Abu Khalil from the media office in Sudan addressed the ongoing attempt to secede south Sudan via a recorded video message. Mr Nasim Ghani form CMO-Pakistan office covered, in English, the political crisis in Pakistan; Mr Abdulatif  translated it Arabic. Mr Ahmad Qasas, the media office in Lebanon addressed the political development in Lebanon.
