Dear Prof. Michel Chossudovsky,

For years I have been reading the various essays, reports offering critical perspectives on western, notably American, global policies on your website Global Research.

Yet I am totally shocked to read the recent article by Prof. Michel Chossudovsky
" SYRIA: Who is Behind The Protest Movement? Fabricating a Pretext for a US-NATO "Humanitarian Intervention" (May 3 2011).

The Prof.'s shallow, baseless attempt to portray Hizb ut Tahrir as part of a shadowy network of a terrorist organizations seeking to inflame sectarian violence in Syria, as a plot by the MI 6 and/or CIA, speaks volume about his utter ignorance of basic realities on the ground....Had he bothered to do a quick search on the internet he'd have easily and quickly discovered the naked truth of Hizb ut Tahrir:

the fact, backed by 6 decades of political activism,

- HT has never engaged in any violence whatsoever

- HT central platform calls for total liberation from the western(both European and ameircan) yoke

- HT adopts a strict intellectual political methodoly in shaping the public opnion, and categorically disavowes any act of violence

- HT platform is centered on the need for unity, to reverse the colonial imposed disunity and schism across the middle east

- HT platform fully respects and integrates the non muslims to live in harmony among muslims, much as they have done for the past millennium, until the western powers encouraged sectarian intra-fighting and civil bloodshed in Syria (19th century) and later in Palestine, Lebanon and now Iraq, sudan...

Only recently HT has strongly condemned and rejected any western intervention in Libya( see: No to Western colonial interference in Libya!, and Muslims must reject Western interference at http://www.hizb.org.uk/real-change/muslims-must-reject-western-interference)

Prof. Chossudovsky's cheap accusation and futile attempt to link HT to MI6, or CIA based on the Pakistani-American regime's charge, in the referenced article( Is Hizb-ut-Tahrir another project of British MI6? posted on State of Pakistan site) is really comical if not pathetic. I guess he's fully aware of the intimate Pakistani -American pact.

Were the Prof. a bit fair minded he'd have read the comment posted in reply to that article; the comment stated:

"What a sensational article. It starts with Musharraf (the tyrant who sold his citizens) makes a link to Omar Saeed Shaikh and then Mi6 and then to Hizb and then to go in circle and put a ? to the link between Hizb and Mi6.

The author then conclude as a fact that Hizb is a project of Mi6- what nonsense.

I went on to read the whole article and evidences and found no link between Hizb ut-Tahrir and Mi6 - however what I found is as follow.

1. Hizb have a small presence in UK compare to their huge presence in almost all Muslim countries and HQ in Jordan.
Party vehemently oppose the Western interference in the Muslim world and has work in the west to create opinion against the brutal dictatorships that the West supports in the Muslim world and awareness on how Islamic state would look like once it is established.

2. It was establish sometime in the 1950s long before it came to Britain

3. British Govt. tried to ban it and couldn't because it is a non violent peaceful political party with the aim of establishing the Islamic state in the Muslim world and NOT in Britain using only intellectual and political means."

Regarding his twisted logic of repeating the Syrian Stalinist regime's- Goebbelian-lies in portraying the police as victims of demonstrators' armed gang, I'd say that while he is free to believe these lies, he is not free to mislead the readers. And without going into much details I pose the question: are the hundreds of human rights activists and the thousands of detained civilians who were dragged from their homes in Daraa, Banias, Hamah, Homs, Deir elzor, Alqameshly, Rustin, Latekia, are they all armed gang or salafi fanatics supported by the Mossads??? If so Goebbels would definitely turn in his grave while raising his chapeau to the Prof. who would have gone way beyond Goebbeles's worst dream.....
Sad to say, this is not what I had thought Global Research to be.

Oh the prof. is more than welcome to visit our office in Beirut in his next trip to Stalinist Syria.
