 Press Release
Women in Yemen are between the Hammer of Colonialism and the Anvil of Wars!
(Translated)

The Director of Public Health and Population in the governorate of Aden, stated that the mortality rate among pregnant women in Yemen is one of the world’s highest, according to the classification of humanitarian organizations, such as: UNICEF and the World Health Organization, reaching 365 deaths per 100,000 live births.

He pointed out that the general estimates indicate that only 22 per cent of births take place under health supervision. This is in addition to the weakness or lack of ambulatory services in difficult cases which results in 33 per cent of pregnant women suffering from long labour.

He also stated that a field survey conducted several years ago revealed that more than 65 per cent of pregnant women do not have access to special care services, and this percentage includes 20 per cent of pregnant women who are not able to access special care services at health centers for several reasons.

As is the case in all countries experiencing strife and political instability, women and children are the most vulnerable in society, and are the ones upon whose shoulders the devastating consequences of these bloody conflicts and corrupt policies rest. This tragic health situation of women in Yemen is the result of the struggle between America and Britain for control of this strategically important country and the resulting brutal war that the country is has witnessed for years and the result of the application of the secular capitalist system and implementation of colonial policies imposed by international institutions and bodies for decades.

It has been nearly a year and a half, since the start of the military operation of the US-Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia, which claimed that this campaign aims to protect Yemen and its people from the continued Houthi aggression that threatens the security of the region and international peace and security, and to assist Yemen in confronting "terrorist organizations"!

In fact, this military operation brought nothing but affliction to the people of Yemen, during which health facilities were subjected to air strikes causing destruction of hospitals and to their entire contents of medical equipment and devices. Also the constant bombardment from both sides of the conflict caused lack of medical supplies and medicines, and absence of electricity and fuel for generators, leading to a deficit in the provision of health services across the country.

All of this exacerbated the deterioration of the health status of women in Yemen, already suffering from unbearable calamities and acute shortage of medical services and poor health care services. This is in addition to the exposure of infants and newborns to medical negligence and lack of proper nutrition. All this occurred under the successive puppet governments that ruled Muslims of Yemen with secular systems that do not hold any value for women or for humanity, nor do they have any concern except protecting the owners of capital and the development of their wealth, and protecting the interests of the disbelieving West and implementing the colonial plans.

So Our Muslim People in Yemen in general and Women in particular...

The suffering that you are experiencing is because of the absence of Islam and its state, the State of the Khilafah "Caliphate" Rashidah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, which guarantees the availability of human health resources, adequate health infrastructure, and proper accessibility. This is because public health is one of the basic needs of the society. And it is because the Messenger of Allah (saw) said:

«الإمام راع، ومسؤول عن رعيته»

“The Imam is a shepherd and he is responsible.” (Bukhari)

Therefore, the solution to your problems is the full implementation of the system of Islam, for within it the full protection of the Yemeni women, men and children is ensured. Accordingly, we in the Women's Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir call on all women in Yemen to work with us to resume the Islamic way of life, through the establishment of the Second Khilafah "Caliphate" Rashidah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood, so that we might receive the goodness of this world and the Hereafter.
