Hizb ut Tahrir is to Host a Women's Seminar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Address the Continuing Appalling Plight of the Rohingya Muslim Women and Children
On Sunday the 7th of July 2013, the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in coordination with Hizb ut Tahrir Malaysia will host a vital women's seminar in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia entitled, "One Year On - Who will save the Rohingya Muslim women and children?" The event will gather speakers and hundreds of female opinion-makers from across Southeast Asia, including journalists, human rights activists, lawyers, and representatives of organisations to bring to global media and international attention, the continuing desperate plight of the Rohingya women and children of Burma, and call for an urgent solution to end their suffering. Malaysia is one of the main states of the region to which thousands of Rohingya women have fled to escape persecution.
One year on since the beginning of the brutal violence by ethnic Buddhists against Muslims in the Rakhine state of Myanmar, Rohingya women and children remain homeless, hungry, and in desperate fear for their lives. They are the victims of a ruthless systematic campaign of ethnic cleansing supported by the murderous Burmese government. Entire villages have been torched and there have been massacres where women and children were hacked to death and their bodies burnt. Systematic rape has also been used by Burmese security forces as a weapon of persecution. Tens of thousands of Rohingya women and children displaced from their homes now live in squalid prison-like refugee camps in Burma with inadequate food and medical care without clean water and sanitation. They are stateless, having been denied citizenship in their own land by the Burmese regime that has deprived them of healthcare, education, free movement, and refused their men employment. This is alongside being subjected to an oppressive birth-control policy that prohibits them from bearing more than two children, aimed at stemming the growth of the Rohingya population. Despite all this, the UN, Western democratic states, the global media, the Burmese democratic opposition, and even many human rights organisations have shamefully chosen to ignore the massacres and gross injustices, choosing instead to protect and pursue their economic and political interests in Burma, exposing democracy's empty talk of human rights.
This important seminar will raise awareness of the plight of the Rohingya women, demand of the governments of the Muslim world that they give them refuge, and highlight that it is the Khilafah "Caliphate" state alone, implementing Islam fully that will save the Rohingya women and children. It will provide them a safe place to live with dignity as equal citizens of the state as well as mobilize the Muslim armies to protect their blood; for it is this system alone that rejects nationalism, unites our Muslim lands, and views the Muslim as a Muslim regardless of their nationality, ethnicity, and race. We call all women who seek an end to the heartbreaking suffering of the Rohingya women to attend this important event and we call all Muslims to intensify their efforts to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" that will provide a state of guardianship to the stateless, under a sincere Islamic leader such as the Amir of Hizb ut Tahrir, the eminent mujtahid Sheikh Ata Abu Rashta who will strive without hesitation or delay to bring the anguish of the Rohingya Muslim women and children and all Muslims facing oppression across the world to a swift end. The Prophet (saw) said, المسلم أخو المسلم ، لا يظلمه ، ولا يخذله "The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor does he abandon him..."
