We Condemn the Sponsorship of Breweries Company

Hizb-ut Tahrir - East Africa has received with a deep sadness and grievances the recent report on Tanzania Breweries Limited sponsoring of the Zanzibar Main Football League. This sponsorship will last for a period of 3 years for peanuts amount of Tsh 140 Millions.

Also, Hizb-ut Tahrir -East Africa seriously condemns this sponsorship which was made tactfully on the pretext of non-toxicant beverage named 'Grand Malt'. This sponsorship reveals clearly the disregard of the government and concerned Ministry to the stance of majority of citizen protesting against sponsorship from Breweries' companies. A thing that is contrary with Islam the faith of majority among the locals.

Furthermore, this sponsorship has brought a great deal of shame and a humiliation by imposing and making youths of the noble Ummah of Islam cheap laborers for promoting and publicing Breweries Company for trivial cost (thaman-bakhiys) which will easily enable it to perpetuate spreading mischief to Muslims and society a whole.

This has occurred while it is widely known that alcohol is forbidden in Islam, including its brewing, selling, transporting and publicizing. Above all, Islam made clear that alcohol is a source and mother of all evils as well as a craft of Satan. A greatest enemy that misguides Muslims and mankind a whole.

{ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ يُوقِعَ بَيْنَكُمْ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاءَ فِي الْخَمْرِ وَالْمَيْسِرِ وَيَصُدَّكُمْ عَنْ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَعَنْ الصَّلاَةِ فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ مُنتَهُونَ }

‘Satan wants you only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants and gambling, and hinder you from remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat. So will you not then abstain?'
