Ferry Tragedy: Total Failure of Capitalism in Serving its People!
It is past 72 hours (from 18:15 hours on Sunday, 29 September 2019), and the bodies of 35-year-old Mariam Kigenda and her daughter are yet to be retrieved. Mariam's vehicle reversed and plunged into the Indian Ocean on Sunday 29th September, 2019 at 1815hrs. We wish to convey our deepest condolences to friends and relatives of Mariam Kigenda.
Despite the presence of Kenya Navy and Kenya Ports Authority divers, the wreckage of the ill-fated vehicle located in the ocean and bodies of the mother and daughter are yet to be retrieved! The family had even taken the decision to pay local divers to search for the bodies. More painful for all the past years, the Kenya Ferry has been operating without a single diver! The pressing question is; are the military officers prepared enough to deal with such tragedies or to marching in national ceremonies only?
This incident has once again indicated lack of proper management and poor strategies at Kenya Ferry Services and the Ministry of Transport in general. It is negligence of the highest order for the Government and the Ministry of Transport including the Ferry Services Department to wait for tragedies to occur then drag themselves to attend to public safety. We protest forcefully the failure of capitalist system in serving its people well. The system that takes lightly all public matters including the public safety. We sincerely therefore, call upon all people to support the work of the re-establishment of the Khilafah (Caliphate) that indeed will put the issue of public safety including that of passengers under great scrutiny through inspection of travelling vessels, putting in place a rescue team before setting off to prevent accidents.
