Press Release Fire Outbreak Destroyed the Studio of Radio Noor Fm - Zanzibar
Hizb ut Tahrir / East Africa has received with great sadness the news of a fire outbreak which destroyed the studio of Radio Noor FM - Zanzibar. The disaster occurred at night on Tuesday 8 April 2014 following an electrical fault.
The disaster caused injuries to reporter Abubakar Fakih who was on the building's top floors decided to jump out to save his life. The reporter is now hospitalized at Mnazimmoja Hospital. The disaster also caused the radio station losses running into millions.
We in Hizb extend our prayers and console the owners of the station, workers especially the injured and Muslims in general following the disaster. However, following the event, we would like to remind all Muslims concerning the evil of Capitalism which naturally has failed to properly organize social services including electricity services.
This has caused the service to be plagued with faults and fluctuations that never end or ease. The result of the faults and fluctuations are avoidable loses that affect life and property which in the end becomes a burden to the public and institutions. This occurs while Capitalist governments keep quiet as if nothing happened yet the public and these institutions have heavily paid for the services.
