IGP, Stop your baseless allegations! Let us sit down and discuss.

Referring to the article by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, published in Harian Metro on Saturday 14/05/2016 entitled “Deviant Teaching Threats National Security” where he listed Hizb ut Tahrir Malaysia (HTM) as one of the deviant groups, carrying out activities such as flash mob, street da’wah, campaign and the demonstration rejecting the coming of Obama to Malaysia. We in Hizb ut Tahrir Malaysia would like to stress that:

1. It is not an insignificant, rather, a very serious allegation made by the IGP without scrutiny. The IGP has never met nor discuss with any of the HTM leaders with regard to the issues of creed (Aqeedah) and thoughts (fikrah) adopted and called for, by Hizb ut Tahrir. How then, could the IGP make such an allegation? On what grounds did the IGP dare to say that HTM is a deviant group? Is it based on the edict (fatwa) issued by the Selangor Fatwa Committee which was full of defamation and confusion? Does the IGP not know that alleging someone as deviant is indeed a very serious offence in the sight of Allah, especially when the allegation offers no proof whatsoever? It is even more serious when the allegation has an impact on millions of members and supporters of Hizb ut Tahrir worldwide who share the same beliefs and thoughts as what Hizb ut Tahrir adopts.

2. O IGP, do HTM’s “activities” as you had mentioned in your article i.e. carrying out flash mobs, street da’wah, campaigns and demonstrations against Obama, indicate that HTM is a deviant group? Is alleging HTM as being deviant that easy for you? Was it not the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) itself that had given full co-operation to HTM’s demonstration in rejecting the coming of Obama? Does it mean that the RMP had assisted a “deviant teaching”!? On top of that, do HTM’s “activities” as mentioned by you, threaten the national security!? Since when do da’wah activities carried out intellectually, carrying out campaigns and peaceful demonstrations, controlled and assisted fully by the RMP itself, become a threat to the national security? Do efforts in implementing Islam in its entirety (kaffah) and eliminating secular laws and uprooting the Kufr and harmful thoughts in society which are carried out intellectually and politically by HTM, threaten the national security? Do works culminating in the unity of the Muslim Ummah under Shariah and Khilafah "Caliphate" which are obligated by Allah (swt) harm the national security?

3. In the light of seeking and delivering the truth and closing all doors of defamation, we call the IGP to have an intellectual discuss and debate, be it a closed discussion and debate or an open one, with regard to the allegations of HTM being a deviant group. In the meantime, we advise the IGP and RMP to stop all false allegations towards HTM, because there is nothing good to be gained by the IGP or RMP out of it, except resulting in sin and further parting the Ummah. Thus, O respected IGP, please retract your statement and seek forgiveness from Allah (swt) for all the baseless allegations thrown at HTM.

4. We would like to stress again and again that Hizb ut Tahrir’s call is intellectual and political in nature and is fully in line with the steps outlined by Rasulullah (saw), far from violence and deviation. The IGP and RMP can check for themselves all the books or publications and all the programs organised by Hizb ut Tahrir and if there are any suspected deviation, even slightly, please come to us to discuss and clarify the matter. In fact, there had been RMP’s Special Branch officers who had attended our programs and interacted with the Shabab of HTM who know and in fact agree with the Islamic thoughts carried by Hizb ut Tahrir.

Having said this, we would like to take this opportunity to thank RMP for constantly giving us the much needed assistance in our demonstrations and handing over of memoranda and we hope the co-operation will continue.

Meanwhile, we would also like to advise RMP members to repent to Allah (swt) from all the sins and we pray that Allah (swt) forgive all the sins of RMP members involved in preventing our seminars, conferences, street da’wah, distribution of leaflets etc., including all the threat received by the Shabab of HTM from time to time by RMPs’ Special Branch officers and the Shariah-contradict arrest of the HTM’s Spokesperson and another member of Hizb ut Tahrir on 20/11/2015. May Allah (swt) open the IGP’s heart and all the other members of RMP, to not just help the da’wah of Hizb ut Tahrir, but also to become da’wah carriers in establishing the Deen of Allah (swt) and re-establishing the Khilafah "Caliphate" State upon the method of the Prophethood, that Hizb ut Tahrir is working towards that aim.

Dear IGP, please carry out your duties, trusted on you with all good deeds, professionalism and do not ever go against the orders of Allah (swt) and His Messenger’s (saw) in all matters. Make the Quran and Sunnah as the only guidance in carrying out your duties and be steadfast in holding on to both of them. Finally, we pray that the IGP and members of RMP are excluded from the ayah of Allah (swt),

(وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْاْ إِلَى مَآ أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَإِلَى الرَّسُولِ رَأَيْتَ الْمُنَـفِقِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَنكَ صُدُوداً)

And when it is said to them: "Come to what Allah has sent down and to the Messenger,'' you see the hypocrites turn away from you with aversion [An-Nisa’ (4):61].
