Press Release

The Sudanese Government is Firing a Mercy Bullet upon Industry!

(Translated)

The Sudanese government announced the liberalisation of Gasoline and furnace to factories. Industry Minister Dr Abdu Daud Suleiman clarified to the ‘Suna’ news agency that the decision to liberate the gasoline and furnace within the industrial sector has positive repercussions for industrial growth! And experts said to the ‘Newspaper’ on Sunday 26/06/2016 that the freeing of the price of the two commodities will have a major impact upon the production cost and the prices of the locally manufactured goods, and that it will lead to a rise in the price of the Dollar. The Secretary General of the Chamber of Food Industries mentioned that the announcement to commence the application of the decision will take place during the middle of the coming July.

The one who follows the economic situation in Sudan will clearly notice that the government policy works to destroy the industry within Sudan by imposing taxes and levies and by policies that lead to the closing of factories and putting them out of work. It was mentioned in a visualised report by Sky News Arabic on 15/10/2015 that there were more than 200 factories in Sudan of which 70% have stopped due to the increased production costs. And there is no doubt that the taxes and levies upon the commodities and services are from amongst the most dangerous matters that impact the costs of production which then inevitably lead to raising prices and weaken the commodities ability to compete and have staying power in the markets, which leads to the closing of factories and ejection of workers!!

Power represents the backbone of industry and every time man is guided to a more plentiful or better source of energy his industry becomes greater and speeds up. The respectable states are those that support industry via (provision of) power, opening up horizons and opportunities before the people and particularly the heavy industry that states are established upon.

Gasoline and other fossil fuels are considered by the Shar’iah to be a public property which is owned by the people. It is not the owned property of the state whilst the role of the state is to take care of this property and make it available to the people in accordance to what fulfils their interests. That is so that they can enjoy this right which Islam has guaranteed for them and so that they use it within a variety of life’s fields and sectors, including industry. The Prophet (saw) said:

«الناسُ شُركاءُ في ثلاثٍ: في الماءِ والكلأِ والنارِ»

“The people are partners in three: in water, pastures and fire”.

The primary concern of a wise political system is to foster and take care of the affairs of the people and to undertake that which fulfils their interests. Making use of the sources of power which contain a benefit for the people is a Shar’i obligation and rational necessity. It is certain that this will not exist within the current system of taxes which impoverishes the people and sucks their blood. It will only happen with the system of Islam, a system of caretaking which has defined the rights, explained the method to attain them, enjoy them and distribute them to those in need according to clear Ahkaam Shar’iyah. And Islam will never be applied except via its rightly guided Khilafah "Caliphate" state (Caliphate) upon the methodology of the Prophethood. It is therefore an obligation upon the people of Sudan to wipe their hands clean of this regime and to strive to bring about and apply the system of the Lord of the worlds, so that the blessings of the heaven and the earth are opened for them.
