Press Release
Floods and Torrents is a Stain on the Forehead of Capitalist Regimes That Do Not Look After the Affairs
(Translated)
The Sudanese authorities announced the death of 51 people and the injury of 24 others as a result of rain and floods in the states of the River Nile and the White Nile, according to Al Jazeera channel on 13/8/2022. The government of the River Nile state said that the floods caused the erosion of a number of main roads linking the state with other cities. For his part, the spokesman for the National Council for Civil Defense in Sudan, Brigadier General Abdel Jalil Abdel Rahim, said that the floods caused the complete collapse of 5345 houses, the partial collapse of 2845, and the collapse of 16 public facilities.
Despite the certain knowledge of the time of the autumn season, that does not change, the news of the collapse of houses on the heads of their residents as a result of torrents and floods, tops the news every year. The state does not move to tackle it, or to do anything that changes or reduces the damages as a result. Or even to provide the minimum support and care to reduce the extent of the damage, and the number of victims who lose their lives, and who remain without shelter, food, or care for days, even weeks and months!
There are no safe housing policies, and a small number of families in the countryside have limited access to building materials that are resistant to rain and floods, the majority do not have the security of a livelihood for themselves, so these families live in weak houses that puts their lives at risk. These areas are prone to rain and floods. There are only bad seasonal roads, which exacerbate the situation in which flood victims remain helpless. This dilapidated infrastructure in all parts of Sudan, which reveals the state’s inability to take care of people’s affairs, is a stain on the forehead inherited by national governments since the alleged independence. The people’s condition will remain like this, without care, rather it will get worse under the current man-made capitalist systems, in which the politicians’ only interest is the struggle for power, and pushing initiatives that strengthen the authority of one party at the expense of the other. Man under this system loses his property and may lose his soul, so the rulers deserved the wrath and curse of Allah. It was narrated in the extract of Abu Awana, that Harmala said: “and I heard Ayyash bin Abbas say: the Prophet (saw) said: «مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي شَيْئاً، فَرَفَقَ بِهِمْ فَرَفَقَ اللَّهُ بِهِ، وَمَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئاً، فَشَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَعَلَيْهِ بَهْلَةُ اللَّهِ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، وَمَا بَهْلَةُ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ»“Whoever becomes a guardian over my Ummah in something, and he was lenient with them, Allah will be lenient with him, and whoever becomes a guardian over my Ummah in something, and he was harsh on them, then he will receive Bahla of Allah. They said: O Rasool Allah, what is the Bahla of Allah? He said: Allah’s curse.”
The Muslim Caliphs set the most wonderful examples of dedication in caring for people’s affairs, to the level that our master Omar Ibn Al-Khattab said: “By Allah, if a mule stumbled in the roads of Iraq, I fear that Allah will ask me why did I not level the road for it?” Dealing with disasters such as floods and torrents, and taking care of all people’s affairs, is one of the most important actions of the state. Islam has made the responsibility of looking after public affairs on the state. The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: «الإِمَامُ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ»“The Imam is a guardian and he is responsible for his subjects.”
This can only happen under the Khilafah Rashida (rightly-guided Caliphate) State on the method of the Prophethood. For the like of this, let the workers work.
