Press Release
Dengue Fever Outbreak Takes a Toll on Our People in Al-Qadarif, and Government's Challenges in Combating the Epidemic
(Translated)
According to the Ministry of Health's reports, Federal Minister of Health, Haitham Mohammed Ibrahim, conducted a visit on Monday, October 2, 2023, to the Al-Qadarif State. During his visit, he assessed the overall health situation in Al-Qadarif, with a specific focus on the epidemiological conditions and the efforts made to combat dengue fever, cholera, and waterborne diseases.
Since August 2023, dengue fever has been spreading in Al-Qadarif in an epidemic manner, affecting nearly every household. Many houses now have one or more patients suffering from the disease. This situation has been exacerbated by the skyrocketing prices of intravenous solutions and food supplies, all within the context of difficult living conditions. The lack of livelihood and income for the people, particularly since the onset of this senseless war, has further deteriorated the situation.
Furthermore, the slow response of the government and its healthcare agencies at the outset of the outbreak, including the failure to control the mosquito vector responsible for the disease, has had a severe impact. This is a matter that would not have required significant expenses to address.
More than a month later, as the epidemic reached its peak, the Health Minister (AlHumam) FINALLY decided to visit Al-Qadarif. His visit was not to fulfill the state's duty towards its citizens but simply to assess the health situation, as stated in the Ministry of Health's press release. This reflects the mindset of incompetent rulers who have plagued us. The honourable minister, in a statement to Al-Sharq, denied the reports suggesting that the healthcare system in Sudan had collapsed. One cannot help but wonder about his definition of a healthcare system collapse. Does this catastrophic and tragic situation not meet their threshold for a collapse? Or is the system only considered collapsed when people are dying en masse from the disease? Despite the Health Minister acknowledging that medicines for infectious diseases have arrived, people do not see these medicines in reality, and they do not reach the hospitals.
Muslims, these indifferent and oppressive actions are not strange for tyrannical regimes, as they are agent regimes that serve their interests and maintain power by any means. They do not care about the health and livelihood of the people but only seek to please the colonialists and Western ambitions. The solution does not lie with these corrupt systems. The real solution is to establish the Dawlah (State) of care, which is the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood. We must work together to establish it, to free ourselves from the state of humiliation, disgrace, and servitude under the rule of colonialists. Through this state, we will live a happy life and become leaders in the world and servants of Allah Subhanahu.
