To the Head of State…You Mocked Our Mothers and Our Women…So Apologize

The statement made by the Head of State Al-Baji Ca'ed al-Sebsi regarding women's dress in the south in a sarcastic mimicking manner during the Women’s Day celebration is abominable and insolent … It mocks our mothers, the wombs of our good people, and it ridicules certain areas, rather Tunisia as a whole and the rest of the Ummah and it is a mockery of the country's history and customs.

We say to the president's advisers, if there is any wisdom left in them, to advise their leader to remain silent for he has reached the limit of idleness and mockery, and to advise him to desist from this cynical way of speaking, which is not fitting and contrary to all customs. It is not fitting coming from a small child let alone the one who has reached old age, it is not fitting of an ordinary man, let alone the President, in addition to making a mockery of "the prestige of the state."

The Heads of States measure their words carefully and do not clown around because of the consequences of words, and the recordings of the tongues will throw its owner into the fire as our Prophet (saw) said. Long gone is the myth of Bourgaibism, agitation and clowning around and long gone is the time of the tales of Abdul Aziz Al ‘Aroui.

After this terrible crime and this grave insult to our women and mothers and to the dignity of the country and the Ummah; the head of state must offer the women of Tunisia a clear and open apology!
