 Press Release
The Problem of Education Cannot be Solved by Returning to the Outdated Secular Curricula but by Returning to the Islamic Model of Education
(Translated)

The 2018/2019 academic year has begun with the concerns of parents and changes once again made to the educational system. The educational system has been revised five times over the past 15 years, and the examination system has been changed six times. The various governments who dealt with the structure of schools, vocabularies and examination systems with their different approaches have not been able to overcome the chronic education crisis. For example, the results of the PISA test showed that the students in Turkey have remained under the OECD average in science, mathematics and reading, and that Turkey ranked 50th among 72 countries, while the mean period of education should have been 12 years; which means that almost every student should reach secondary school and this period has been reduced to seven and a half years (in Turkey). The number of schools with dual education, no library, laboratory, gym or multi-purpose hall is still relatively large. Drugs, alcohol, smoking, adultery, exploitation, violence, other crimes and erroneous misconduct among children and young people of school age are at frightening levels.

These are only part of the contradictions, failures and bad outcomes of the educational system. What is worse is that this system is built on a secular basis that contradicts Islam, and emanates from a viewpoint that is contradictory to the viewpoint of Islam, and that its standard of content is incompatible with the standard of Islam. It is known that the existence of any nation and its survival depends on transferring its culture to the next generations through education, and their adoption of it. Turkey's education system and education policies today are shaped by the Kafir Western viewpoint. The imposition of Western culture and lifestyle on this nation is a fundamental reason behind this failure. This nation is a Muslim nation, and there exists nothing in its history, culture, science or viewpoint except Islam.

The education system will not dispose of its problems and contradictions and will not reach success as long as the non-religious (secular) educational system that separates religion from life, society and state, which has been implemented since the establishment of the republic, works towards alienating this nation and distancing it from its Islam, history and culture and making it forget its purpose of living. Therefore, the coming generations will remain doomed to melt into Western culture and Western lifestyle.

It is the Islamic Aqeedah (creed) that is the basis of education in Islam. Schools, curricula, vocabulary and techniques, and everything related to education hold the Islamic Aqeedah as its basis. Education policies are determined on the basis of building an Islamic personality by building the Islamic mindset and Islamic disposition. The distinction between madaniyah (material objects) and Hadarah (civilization) is fundamental in education; everything related to civilization is taken only from Islam, and everything related to madaniyah is taken from the sources of knowledge, wherever it may be. This is the education in Islam; it is consistent with the Ummah's creed and its instinct and purpose in life; it is indeed the guarantee of progress, success and pioneering.

Scholars in the history of Islamic sciences are clearly aware that the education system in Islam is the basis of science and technology in our time, and that Muslim countries are the center of education in the world, but our rulers still wander blindly in their ignorance, and have not yet awakened from their sleep!

(فَمَا لِهَؤُلاء الْقَوْمِ لاَ يَكَادُونَ يَفْقَهُونَ حَدِيثاً)

“What, then, is amiss with these people that they are in no wise near to grasping the truth of what they are told?” [Al-Nisaa’: 78]
