Hizb ut Tahrir’s Campaign Against Oppression and Violence in Uzbekistan Was Successful, Alhamdulillah

The Mirziyoyev regime has brought shame upon itself before the entire world by re-imprisoning former political detainees who had survived the oppression of the Karimov era, sentencing them once again to long prison terms. The entire Islamic Ummah is now witnessing this reality. As if the innocent Muslim blood shed by the criminal Jewish entity, especially women and children, in the Blessed Land of Palestine is not enough, rulers who consider themselves Muslims do not hesitate to stab the Ummah in the back. There is no indication of an end to such unjust and illogical violence, which completely contradicts their empty promises. Additionally, the Uzbek government’s desire to enact laws banning Islamic education for the younger generation, its intolerance towards the hijab, making marriage difficult, prohibiting polygamy and even the promotion of it, and attempting to distance Islamic values from society, all clearly indicate which side this government is on. Instead of protecting the interests of Islam and Muslims, it prefers to appease colonialists like Russia and America.

As you know, Hizb ut Tahrir has called on Muslims around the world to stand against this oppression and violence, announcing a campaign titled “O Ummah, A Plea from Uzbekistan’s Prisoners of Conscience!”. Muslims from various countries, led by the Shabab of the Hizb, have joined this campaign, including from Pakistan, Tunisia, and Sweden. For example, in a demonstration held in front of the Uzbekistan Embassy in Stockholm, Sweden, Ustaadh Islam Abu Khalil, Head of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Uzbekistan, spoke and urged the government to stop the oppression and violence it practices to please the colonialist kuffar. He also called on the government to refrain from implementing policies against Islam and Muslims.

On July 23, 2024, corresponding to 17 Muharram 1446 AH, a delegation led by Fazil Amzaev, Head of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Ukraine, visited the Uzbekistan Embassy in Kyiv to deliver a protest letter. Additionally, on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, corresponding to 11 Muharram 1446 AH, a delegation led by Engineer Shaker Assem, the Media Representative of Hizb ut Tahrir in the German-speaking countries, visited the Uzbekistan Embassy in Vienna to submit a protest letter. The head of the delegation introduced Hizb ut Tahrir to the embassy official, explaining that Hizb ut Tahrir is an intellectual political party that does not engage in any material activities. On the contrary, the Hizb rejects the use of violence as a means to achieve its goal and is making serious efforts to establish the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood in the Muslim countries. Therefore, it is a grave mistake for the Uzbek government to classify Hizb ut Tahrir as a terrorist organization to please colonial powers like Russia. Additionally, it is completely unacceptable to coerce members of the Hizb into signing false confessions after re-arresting them and threatening them with the rape of their wives or the arrest of their children if they refuse to sign.

As part of the campaign, among other actions, articles were published criticizing the local media in Uzbekistan for their indifference to the celebration of oppression and repression in our society, their inability to go beyond the red lines drawn by the government, and their double standards. The foreign media related to Uzbekistan were also not ignored in these articles. Additionally, despite the announcement of judicial reforms in Uzbekistan, the judiciary remains under the influence of the security apparatus, just as it was during the era of the "garbage regime." This was explained to our Muslim community through several articles.

Moreover, according to the court ruling read on July 15, most of the 23 Shabab (Hizb members) have higher education and each has at least three children. Yet, these Shabab were portrayed as "extremely dangerous criminals"! The reality is quite the opposite; people know them as honorable and pious individuals who do not violate anyone's rights, care only for the welfare of their country and people, and prioritize the safety and interests of others above their own.

Naturally, impartial individuals in our country have supported this campaign against the policy of injustice and violence. This is confirmed by the fact that the visual and audio materials, articles, live broadcasts, and other content distributed within the campaign framework have been viewed by thousands of people, with hundreds of comments confirming this. However, there are foolish people who fit the description in the words of Allah:

[أُولَئِكَ كَالْأَنْعَامِ بَلْ هُمْ أَضَلُّ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْغَافِلُونَ]

“Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless.” [Al-A'raf:179].

In conclusion, it must be emphasized that any authority that follows the path of tyranny and oppression is bound to weaken and disappear. History provides numerous examples of this, and the former Karimov regime itself is clear evidence, as the policy of injustice and tyranny against people only signifies the weakness of the government, its fear of its own people, and its reliance solely on its "masters." On the contrary, a strong government earns the love, support, and prayers of its people by embodying high qualities such as protecting the oppressed, deterring oppressors, distinguishing between friends and enemies, and showing courage against adversaries.

Today, the Muslim Ummah eagerly awaits the arrival of such righteous rulers and prays day and night for the advent of the Khilafah on the method of the Prophethood. Indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and He answers the duaa, even if after a while, granting His servants victory and empowerment!

[وَيَوْمَئِذٍ يَفْرَحُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ * بِنَصْرِ اللهِ يَنْصُرُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ]‏

“And that day the believers will rejoice (4) In the victory of Allah. He gives victory to whom He wills, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.” [Ar-Rum:4-5].
