Nafsiya Reflections: Miracles Paving the Way
Assalaam u alaykum wa rahmatullahee wa barakatu hu, welcome to this special episode of Nasiyah Reflections as part of the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir's Campaign- marking the anniversary of the Conquest of Constantinople- Miracles Paving the Way.
We have all heard of the great victory of Constantinople. How Muhammad al Fatih changed the Hagia Sofia to a Mosque. It was the fall of the Byzantine Empire and the rise of the Ottoman Empire. Bringing glorious change into Europe and not to mention the world!
We are people who love our history. Dwelling in it, is what we do best at the moment. History that gives us that sense of glory, pride and might. As if it is something that is not near anymore. A lost dream... a merely defenseless reality. Seeing the problems around us... wondering, asking ourselves how could we ever be that strong again? How can we become what we once were? How can this “weak”, “unstable”, divided Ummah become one again?!
Let us recall the many challenges we faced before our victories. Never forgetting that only by the will and decree of Allah did we actually gain power. When Allah says to something to happen it will. {"Be," and it is.}
He will open doors, windows, and break down WALLS for us to soar through. For when Allah decreed the victory of Constantinople, he brought down miracles only a few days before! Let us open our eyes to see the light in our near horizon. Only few days before, the Ottoman army was camped outside the walls of the Constantinople, ready to bring the Byzantine Empire to its knees. Fear and superstition was struck into the hearts of the Byzantines. In an unsuspected, unpredicted, random time, an eclipse occurred. The trembling of the hearts of the Christians began. For an eclipse is what they believed was a sign that the Constantinople was going to fall. Just a while later, a strange, bright, fiery red light, was lit around the dome of the Hagia Sofia. The Byzantines believed it was the withdrawal of the angel that protected the Constantinople. More and more suspicion drew nearer to them.
To protect themselves, they took the sacred, jeweled painting of the “St. Mary” which they believed was the “protectoress of the Constantinople”, out of the castle, and took it to the streets, heading towards the Hagia Sophia painting fell to the ground. That incident led them to believe that the “St. Mary” had abandoned them. Following, hail and rain that began beading from the sky, so hard that the rain turned to floods that streamed through the streets, ripping children from the arms of their parents. Forcing them to leave their gathering and go to their homes. The next day dense fog filled the city. Fog that masked the eyes of the Byzantines. Which again they believed was the “power of the gods”, veiled by the fog, leaving the city for the Ottoman Empire.
After witnessing all these earthly occurrences the Byzantines’ spirits were broken, as these superstitions snuck suspicion and forced fear into their hearts. While on the other hand, these signs expanded determination, power and strength into the chests of the Ottoman army. See if Allah did this before the victory of Constantinople, then what will He do for the victory of the Khilafah?! What will He do to the hearts of the Kufar and Mushrikeen before our victory? How will He make it easier for us?
Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security,... 24:55
For it is not something in the gloomy, unpredictable future, rather it is the promise of Allah, the Exalted in Might and Strength. It is in the clear, predictable, future that Allah deemed to be. For If we work together, to unite our powers once again, in establishing the Khilafah Arashidah, (The rightful Caliphate), fear will be struck in all the hearts of the transgressors, and Allah will break down the barriers for his faithful believers, to march through once again, bringing Righteous Power and Mercy back into the world.
