The Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa issued a statement expressing its great relief that the Sudan Public Order Law has been annulled, and calling for the abolition of all articles that discriminate against women from the criminal law and other laws established with the ideologies of terrorism that have wronged women.

The Minister of Labor and Social Development Lina Al-Sheikh said, “Surely Sudan will sign all the conventions that guarantee women’s rights in all spheres,” and said her presence in the ministry is an opportunity to support all the feminist movements and their demands. Sudan's first women's football league kicked off on Monday with a match between two teams in Khartoum, that was followed by hundreds of fans and diplomats from the stands, according to local and international media. The match was held in the wake of cheers from male and female fans. The launch of this women's football league comes under the transitional rule period,

Demonstrations took place in the city of Wad Madani in protest against the ban on wearing the veil (niqab) and abaya during the previews inside Wad Madani College. A circular was given out demanding the (female) students to wear the official uniform (a skirt and a blouse).
