Press Release
Children in Yemen Pay the Price for the Adults’ Crimes
(Translated)

On Sunday 24/5/2015, Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF, Anthony Lake, announced that 135 children were killed and 260 others were injured as a result of the escalation of the conflict in Yemen. Lake, speaking from Geneva, stated, “all parties to the conflict are obligated under international humanitarian law to protect children from harm. At a minimum, there should be a humanitarian pause to enable lifesaving supplies to reach the injured, the sick, the vulnerable and all those affected by the violence.” He said that the number of children killed in Yemen because of the conflict, is growing day by day, pointing out that children must not continue to pay the price for the violence in the country.

These rapid and serious events that befell Muslims, ravaged their country, killed them and destroyed their strength. It broke their backs, divided them and forced them to flee making them hungry and destitute, grasping and begging for relief assistance in the hope that it will alleviate their suffering or fill some of their needs, amid the silence of the world, greedy for their fortunes, and disappointment over the rulers of the Muslims, who dragged Muslims to wars that is not theirs. Then the United Nations comes forth with its institutions and organizations feigning tears over the children’s situation. They allege falsely and deceitfully that they fear and are alarmed of what has become of their situation due to the civil strife that engulfed Yemen; which was a blind war from the Kaffir West directed at the center of the Ummah to preserve its interests in Yemen, regardless of the consequences upon the people of Yemen including children and women, some of whom were killed and some abandoned to neighboring countries to taste the bitterness of displacement, and some were stranded, of whom we did not receive or hear of their wails and cries.

The head of Siyaj Child Protection Organization that is concerned with children's rights, for his part, has confirmed that children in Yemen are the most affected by wars and conflicts that are ongoing at various levels. He pointed out that the damages that affect children are numerous and different, and are not limited to killing and physical injuries but extends to psychological crises and fear experienced by these children. They go to bed and wake up to the sounds of planes and bombs, and live life in a state of readiness for their houses to be bombed over their heads at any moment, forcing them to leave their homes and their schools and their dreams and share with their families suffering that is bigger than their age. Consequently they live in camps and unhealthy environments which lack adequate food and the basic human needs of continuing to live, not even clean water, which leads to diseases spreading due to lack of food and malnutrition and lack of vaccines against pandemic infectious diseases, thus increasing the suffering of the families more.

O Muslims everywhere:

Your brothers in Yemen do not need relief packages, food or clothing, but they need to sever the hands of injustice that meddle in Yemen and increase their suffering and deepen the wounds of its people increasing their pain! They need someone to heal their wounds, not a Decisive Storm that kills them, destroys their children’s dreams, widows their wives and humiliates their elders. The legitimacy that you proclaim is illegitimate, the people did not choose their government, but it was forced by coercion over them. The legitimate state that the Legislator Almighty obliged upon Muslims to establish is the Khilafah "Caliphate" State on the method of Prophethood, in which the ethnic and sectarian conflicts are eradicated. Only the voice of truth is heard in it, the voice of Islam that melts all the communities in its melting pot.

The Islamic Ummah is one Ummah to the exception of others, its peace is one and its war is one. If one part of it complains then the rest of the Ummah is restless and suffer in fever and it will rise for its aid. For this we in Hizb ut Tahrir call on all the Islamic Ummah to be decisive and determined and work with us to establish the Khilafah "Caliphate" State on the method of Prophethood, so that the Ummah becomes unshackled from the hands of the Kaffir colonizers and redeems its right and restores matters back to normal, and takes the leading position it deserves amongst the nations. For this action, workers must strive.

[إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ * لِمِثْلِ هَذَا فَلْيَعْمَلْ الْعَامِلُونَ]

“Indeed, this is the great attainment. For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.” [As-Saffat: 60-61]
