Syria: America Continues to Flounder and Is Fast Running Out of Options
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
After two years of desperately trying to derail the revolution through a combination of Arab League initiatives, UN backed peace plans, and bloodshed perpetrated at the hands of its agent Assad, America still finds itself floundering. Washington is nowhere near to devising a suitable alternative to Assad's regime and continues regurgitate failed political solutions in the vain hope that the Islamic character of the revolution will somehow be thwarted. In its latest attempt, America is once again proposing that the so-called Syrian opposition hold talks with elements of the present regime.
In this respect, Syrian National Coalition leader Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib under tutelage from the West has proposed to convene talks with Syrian Vice-President Farouk al-Sharaa, a stalwart of the Assad regime and a loyal American agent. He said, "I say to Bashar al-Assad: look into the eyes of your children and try to find a solution ... We can help each other in the interest. The regime needs to take a clear position. We will extend our hands for the sake of the people, and in order to help the regime leave in peace." Khatib's announcement came after he had talks with US Vice-President Joe Biden, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and his Iranian counterpart, Ali Akbar Salehi in Munich.
No sooner had Khatib delivered his call for dialogue with Assad's regime, his overture was immediately buttressed by some of the traitors of the Muslim world. Mursi speaking before the gathering of traitors at the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Cairo said, "The Syrian regime must draw lessons from history: it is the people who remain. Those who put their personal interests above the interests of their people will end up leaving." He also called on opposition parties not allied to Syria's National Coalition, "to coordinate with this coalition and support their efforts for a unified approach... for democracy." Mursi was joined in his betrayal of the Syrian people by the OIC, which unequivocally endorsed the call for dialogue between the Syrian regime and Khatib.
The UN also threw its weight behind the call for dialogue. UN mediator Lakhdar Brahimi warmly welcomed Khatib's offer as positive. "This is an inspired personal initiative by Sheikh Ahmad Moaz al-Khatib, despite the various reactions from other members of his group," Brahimi said in an interview to be published in the French daily "La Croix" last Thursday.
Thus America succeeded in bringing the traitors of the Muslim World, its agent at the UN, Brahimi, and fellow co-conspirator countries like Russia and other Western nations to support Khatib's dialogue with Assad's regime. But is this enough to change the minds of the sincere revolutionaries in Syria and the Syrian people? America has tried similar styles several times before, and all have failed to sway the Syrian revolutionaries and the people from their yearning to re-establish the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate". So what chance of success does the call for dialogue with Assad's regime have apart from failure and despondency for Washington?
Indeed America realises the futility of such political solutions and is earnestly preparing for military intervention. But even the military option is fraught with problems for it is just a means to implement political solutions. And regarding the latter, America is completely exhausted; as it can be seen with Khatib's proposal which has been widely derided by fellow opposition members and is swiftly being undermined by movement of the revolutionaries to take the centre of Damascus.
The sincere revolutionaries and the Syrian people must not lose heart for they are so close to their goal. All they have to do is continue to put their trust in Allah as they enter Damascus and the victory will be theirs. Allah (swt) says,
"Two men from among the God-fearing, upon whom Allah had bestowed His Grace said: "Assault them [the enemy] from the [proper] gate. Once you are in, victory will be yours. And depend upon Allah, if you truly believe." [TMQ Al-Maida: 23]
