Fulfilling all of our Fard this Ramadan
Pakistan is in the midst of yet another political crisis. We are told that we must choose between the two main parties – and while the Muslim Ummah within Pakistan understands that they are both problematic – we seem to think they must pick a side.
Why do we feel that either of them are an acceptable choice?
We know their faults.
We see that they are not obedient to Allah – within their individual lives, or as representatives of a Capitalist System.
We see that they are not diligent in fulfilling all the Commands and adhering to all to the Limits that have been set by Him.
So why should we accept them?
Do we not have a duty to stand up and speak out against the Kufr that exists in our society?
Should this duty not be included in our plans for Ramadan- as we spend the weeks that are leading up to it, preparing for a month of Ibadaat (worship).
Does fulfilling All of Allah’s commands, including the commands to enjoin the Marouf and forbid the Munkar? Accounting the people of power and demanding that they re-establish the Khilafah (Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood?
As Muslims, we are very diligent in fulfilling the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) during Ramadan. But we have allowed ourselves to focus on a few specific actions, forgetting that Islam is a way of life that must be implemented at the State level. Forgetting that unless Islam is implemented as a System, with a Khaleefah who promises to abide by His Laws and no other, we will incur His Wrath in the Afterlife.
«وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ فِي عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً»
“And whosoever dies without having a Bay’ah upon his neck he dies the death of Jahiliyyah.” [Muslim]
This forgetfulness has led to a situation, where our rulers believe that they can continue to implement laws that emanate from the Capitalist System.
- Laws which lead to us accepting interest based loans.
- Laws which allow our children to be introduced to Kufr concepts - like transgenderism and atheism
- Laws which allow attacks on our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kashmir, Palestine, Myanmar, Yemen and Syria.
“Then is it only a part of the Book that you believe in and do you reject the rest? But what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life? And on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what you do.” [Surah al-Baqarah 2:85].
So, this Ramadan, if we truly wish to seek Allah’s pleasure, we must remember all of our Fard and the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw).
We have been ordered by Him to Enjoin the Marouf and Forbid the Munkar, and the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw) has given us practical steps that allow us to fulfill this Fard. So as we pray extra nawafil, read Quran and study the Tasfir, let us also study the Seerah and understand how the Prophet and the Sahaba fulfilled their Fard. Let us study the Laws that Allah (swt) has given us and understand the importance of living under the Khilafah. Then, let us think account the people of power and ask them why they are not fulfilling their Fard, as we seek to fulfill ours.
