An agreement was signed in Istanbul between Russia and Ukraine through the mediation of the United Nations (UN) and Turkey for the resumption of grain exports from Ukrainian ports. BP has reported its biggest quarterly profit for 14 years after oil and gas prices soared.The energy giant saw underlying profits hit $8.45bn (£6.9bn) between April and June - more than triple the amount it made in the same period last year.It comes as typical household energy bills have been forecast to hit more than £3,600 a year this winter.

In a damning report, the British House of Commons public accounts committee (PAC) concluded that the government made a series of failures, making it impossible to know if the contracts had been awarded properly to Randox. The Department of Health and Social Care did little to deal with potential conflicts of interests despite “clear concerns” about Randox’s political connections, the cross-party committee of MPs found.
