Afghan Women should Stand up for their Real Islamic Identity

News

According to the Afghanistan media reports on 09th July 2017, a group of young Afghan women and girls have launched a social media campaign "Where Is My Name" against the culture of hiding women's name in the public sphere.

Organizers stressed that the government should ensure that the girls’ and women’s actual names are marked in officials documents instead of their male relatives. The members of the campaign, said that the participants of this campaign are striving hard in social media to get rid of this outdated norm. One of the organizers spoke to the media in a video without the Islamic Dress code, fighting for the right of Afghan women to use their name according to Islamic and human rights. (Salam Watandar)

Afghanistan is a country constantly used by the western media for the picture of suppression of the women by the men or religion. Every subject which contradicts the feminist or western values is gladly big talked to devote attention to the women's suppression in Afghanistan.

In today's reality it is no longer the case that the women are not called by their own names. In the parliament, in their ID cards, in their profession, in the family among the friends and acquaintances, every woman is named after her real name. That it is not common practice that every husband not reveals the name of his wife to all, is another point, which is even not affecting on right or identity of the woman, but simply a custom in the society which gives the women an honor. It is also a custom in other parts of the country that the wives don’t call their husbands by their names and this is a sign of respect. Unfortunately, the values in Afghanistan are so mixed, that the Afghan women cannot identify what is to their advantage and what to their disadvantage. But this situation the secularists use every opportunity to lead the Ummah into wrongness and cause between the men, women and in the society discord.

There are numerous other values and rights that the Afghan government does not provide to the women and thereby rob their identity. Every day shed the blood of innocent women and girls, every day women and girls must think about what they can eat tomorrow because of famine, every day Afghan women and girls move from one place to another because they have no habitation, thousands of Afghan women and girls suffer because of inadequate education, many Afghan women and girls are forced to beg or turn to prostitution to provide financially for their families. The Islamic identity of Afghan women and girls is being robbed from them by the secular power, etc.

It is very important that the Afghan women not be influenced by the democratic secularist values. They should not believe that these values can give them honor and identity. If this were the case, the women in the secular ruled governments were satisfied with their position in society and with their identity which they received from the government and these western women are called with their names and are also registered under this.

So honorable Muslim sisters of Afghanistan, let us devote ourselves to the more important things which lead to the prosperity and the victory of the Ummah and let us not be confused by the values and norms of the unbelievers and the Shaytan, who want to cause a discord between the Ummah.

“And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.” [Al-isra 53]
