The Mahram Concept in Islam is a Mercy to Women
News:
A mentally ill woman was discovered in a "mummified, almost skeletal state" after lying dead for more than three years in her flat. Her last entry in her calendar read “I need help”.
During the three-and-a-half years in which her body lay undisturbed, no determined attempts to establish her wellbeing were made, despite her disability benefits being stopped and her gas cut off, and her repeated failure to reply to letters, phone calls and texts, or answer the door. Comment:
The typical attack on the Islamic social system is that the Mahram structure in the Islamic social system somehow makes women under the control of men and oppresses them. The fact that the women in the Islamic Social system are under the guardianship of their father, brother, uncles and other male relatives is a great mercy to the women in the Muslim world. They never have to feel that they are abandoned or have to struggle to meet their needs alone. If they are well, ill or in any kind of problem, the men in their family circle or marriage relationships must have a hand in their matters. Equality and feminism robbed millions of women of this great privilege to be maintained emotionally and financially. This is why many women have been allowed to live on the streets of the West or literally dumped in elderly homes to be abused. It is not uncommon to have vulnerable women left for years without anyone enquiring about their health or if they are needy.
Alhamdulliah for the righteous Quran and Sunnah allowing the correct guidance for humankind to relate the world from the oppression of man-made rules that promise much and deliver little.
[مَنْ يَهْدِ اللَّهُ فَهُوَ الْمُهْتَدِي وَمَنْ يُضْلِلْ فَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ]
“Whom Allah does guide, he is on the right path: whom He rejects from His guidance, such are the persons who perish.” [Al-Araf: 178]
