Tanzania in Dependence Syndrome
News:
On Sunday, June 02, 2024, The United Republic of Tanzania and the government of South Korea signed bilateral the partnership agreements in Seoul. The agreements included a loan of $2.5 billion (Tsh 6.5 trillion) provided by South Korea under Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) for different infrastructure projects.
Comment:
While capitalist countries are struggling for Africa’s abundant resources, Seoul also joined other capitals like Beijing, Washington and Moscow to summon African leaders for the similar mission.
This is not the first time that Tanzania attended the Africa-Korea meeting. The first Africa-Korea forum was held in Seoul in 2006.
Just like other capitalist, trade between Tanzania and South Korea is imbalance, exploitative and in favor of Korea. For instance, for five years (2016 to 2020) the exports value from Tanzania to South Korea has decreased from average of $38.794 million in 2016 to $29.818 million in 2019. Tanzanian exported goods worth $47 million in 2020, but importation worth $151 million from South Korea.
If not colonialization and exploitation of Africa, the trade deals between Tanzania with South Korea and other nations would have been beneficial bring about a strong boost of economic progress. African’s exports such as copper, coffee, cloves, fresh cut flowers and buds, paraffin wax, vegetable materials, aluminum, vegetable seeds, wood and minerals are worth that the careful and ideological state would have improved process industries such as cashewnuts, oil seeds, spice and fish and so produce its own laboratory reagents, clothing and other industrial goods which Tanzania is now importing from South Korea with high costs.
Among other things that particular partnership between South Korea and Tanzania focused were on energy, infrastructure, blue economy, food and mineral security.
It is more than shame that a country such as Tanzania to depend on South Korea in food security matters, while having access of 44 million hectares of arable land with an estimated 29.4 million hectares suitable for irrigation. It enjoys the second position on having largest livestock population in Africa. Not to mention its high human resources of about 61 million with massive sources of water such as Lake Victoria, which is among the largest lakes in the world covering 65,583 sq mi, where Tanzania alone has a share of 49% of 33,700 square kilometers, Lake Tanganyika, the second-largest lake by volume in the world and the deepest lake in Africa that holds the greatest volume of fresh water. Above all it has territorial sea of 64,000 square km, etc.
Tanzania similar to other developing nations since they lack ideological pillar failed to utilize all their resources for food security and agricultural development!
Exploitation of Africa’s resources through these colonial relations between Africa and capitalist nations would always be in place as long as the evil capitalism ideology is imposed to the world instead of Islam.
Islam under its Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) State upon the method of the Prophethood would ensures establishment of strong industrial and agricultural researches and development, ending colonialist loans with their exploitative conditions by replacing them with Islamic based revenue generation, including public ownership of the abundant Africa’s resources.
