Our Silence Only Increases the Injustice and Tyranny of the Ruling Regime!

On 9 May 2024, the trial of 23 Hizb ut Tahrir party members began in the Shaykhontokhur district of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Over the past few years, the Uzbek authorities have intensified their fight against Islam and Muslims, in particular the open and merciless persecution of Islamic dawah carriers, the members of the political party of Hizb ut Tahrir.

Currently, 23 shabab (Hizb members) in Tashkent are on trial, and 16 more brothers are under investigation.  Who are they? And why are the Uzbek authorities persecuting the Hizb shabab?

Everyone knows that in the late 90s in Uzbekistan, the regime of the tyrant Karimov began a fierce struggle against the sincere sons of the Islamic Ummah, who called for the revival of the Islamic way of life according to the method of Prophethood. Then these brothers fell under the millstones of Karimov's tyranny and were imprisoned for 20 years, suffering inhuman torture and abuse. But by the will of Almighty Allah, these brothers passed the trials honourably, and tyrant Karimov faded into history, remaining in the memory of the people as an ignorant despot.

Before they were released, the shabab found themselves back in the same dungeon. It seems that the new authorities have not taken into account the mistakes of the former regime, the tyrant Karimov, and are following in the footsteps of their teacher. As it happened in the past, the shabab were arrested on trumped-up charges, tortured and bullied during the process of additional investigation, their relatives and friends were threatened.

The authorities accuse the shabab under Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan of membership and participation in the activities of a banned religious extremist organisation. They are also charged under Article 159 with publicly calling for an unlawful change in the current state system of the Republic of Uzbekistan, seizure of power, or violation of territorial integrity as part of the organised group. Hizb ut Tahrir was recognised by the Supreme Court of Uzbekistan in 2016 as a terrorist organisation and banned in the country.

What are these accusations based on? Only on the whims of the authorities and the false words of their servants in various bodies of state structures. The accusations of terrorism and violence against the carriers of the Islamic call of Hizb ut Tahrir are slander and brazen lies. During the entire existence of the criminal regime of Uzbekistan, both old and new, the authorities, in their accusations, have never provided evidence from the real reality of physical actions of the members of Hizb ut Tahrir against the authorities. That is, there is no corpus delicti in the case files, documents - a plan to seize power in some city, village, or in the republic as a whole, hostage-taking, or accusations of explosions, murders, etc. In all cases it is said only about the fact that the party's literature was found in the houses, they taught Islam, called for Khilafah (Caliphate), etc., that is, all case materials speak about the ideological and political work with the people.

Hizb ut Tahrir is working on the revival of the Islamic way of life according to the method of Prophethood, that is, the ideological and political work. It is known worldwide that Hizb ut Tahrir is an Islamic political party. Human rights organisations such as Human Rights Watch, Memorial and others say Hizb ut Tahrir conducts its work in a non-violent manner, and recognises arrested party members as prisoners of conscience.

Hizb ut Tahrir brings the truth to the people and expose all the crimes of tyrants.  The members of the party conduct their work confined within the framework of the ideological and political struggle because they follow the method of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) and want to live according to the laws of their Creator, the Lord of the Worlds Almighty Allah!

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: «مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ مُنْكَرًا فَلْيُغَيِّرْهُ بِيَدِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِلِسَانِهِ، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِقَلْبِهِ، وَذَلِكَ أَضْعَفُ الْإِيمَانِ»“Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; and if he is not able to do so, then let him change it with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart – and that is the weakest of faith”.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) also said: «أَفْضَلُ الْجِهَادِ كَلِمَةُ حَقٍّ عِنْدَ سُلْطَانٍ جَائِرٍ»“The best Jihad is a word of truth in front of an oppressive ruler”!

Our silence, at a time when the authorities are committing evil, persecuting Muslims by arresting, torturing and imprisoning them, only increases the injustice and tyranny of the ruling regime. Join the campaign announced by Hizb ut Tahrir in support of our brothers, prisoners of conscience. Lift loudly the word of truth to the unjust ruler! And may Allah help us!
