Issue of Abduction and Disappearance in Tanzania

News:

On 09th August, 2024, The Tanganyika Law Society (TLS) issued the press release on the ongoing abduction and disappearance of the people in the country. The organization listed about 83 reported people whom have been abducted and disappeared since 2016.

Comment:

We strongly denounce these acts which have been increasing recently without the relevant government agencies being properly accountable.

TLS reported more than 20 abduction/disappearance cases in 2024 only. The abducted/disappeared people include government critics, politicians, businessmen, common people including normal children as well as with albinism.

The later has been reported the most in recent days and so sparkled fears among the parents as many of them are school children.

It is believed that there are several reasons behind abductions and disappearances including witchcraft beliefs motivated mostly by political agenda related with local government election conducted this year and the coming 2025 general election.

It has to be remembered that in 2015 Mr. Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, warned that the surge of at the albino barbaric killings in Tanzania could had link with looming General Election campaigns.

It is said that some politicians believe that having albino’s body parts for witchcrafts would make them win the election.

Government criticism, human trafficking, human organs business, hooliganism, fornication and rape might be also the reasons for abductions and disappearances.

These brutal incidents expose reality that the capitalistic democratic governments do not care about the welfare of the masses, including vital issues like people’s safety and security. It is shame that despite repetition of these incidences every year or within a number of months, yet enough has not been done to properly combat and prevent them.

Furthermore, it indicates vividly the evil of capitalist ideology, among them is its thought of ‘personal benefit’ of which made people greed to only care personal interests and gains regardless the effects of their actions might bring to people.

While we demand to the government as a care taker to make serious intervention with all means possible to abolish these inhuman, barbaric and heinous actions, it has to be clear that it is only under Islamic State (Khilafah) that true safety and security of people would be achieved via implementation of divine rule that stand for justice without consideration of benefit.
