Having Hijab Day Does Not Stop the Harassment of Muslim Women

February 1st is International Hijab Day. It is advertised as “an opportunity to show solidarity with Muslim girls and women and stand against bigotry, discrimination, and Islamophobia. It was reported in the news platform NEA Today that there is are increased reports of harassment and abuse against Muslim female students who are visible in their identity.

“Among middle and high school Muslim students, 47 per cent report feeling "unsafe, unwelcome, or uncomfortable" at school because of their identities. One in four say they've heard a teacher or other adult at school make offensive comments or act in a way offensive to Muslims. For students who wear hijabs, it's especially threatening: about a third say their hijab has been pulled off or touched offensively.”

Comment:

The global increase in violence and danger faced by Muslim women is not accidental. It is a matter or design by those who seek to ridicule Islam and make the corrupt ways of life normal.

Global wars where millions of Muslim women are murdered and have severe health and wellness crimes committed against them.

These global Hijab days do not reverse or denounce the nations that criminalise Muslim women for wearing hijab. They support the countries and label them as progressive examples, even with their abuse of Muslim women for choosing their dress in public.

The world hijab day did not have any impact on the Muslim women who have had their children kidnapped by agencies for expressing “too much Islam”.

The truth is, that such token gestures are there as a cover for the real agenda. It allows the distracted Muslims to celebrate liberal values, which is the source of the problem. It creates a false sense of comfort and support that we have “Islamic leadership’ of sorts.

We must never accept false measures of Islamic laws and the Quran and Sunnah must be our only reference for what is the method to solve any problem. For Muslims who follow the way of the Prophet (saw) without deviation or modernisation, Khilafah (Caliphate) must be the only idea that is considered to defend the life and honour of Muslim women.

Umar Ibn Al Khattab was one of the great innovators in the judicial system of Islam that allowed the security and protection of human rights to be uncompromised. To the extent that even today, western nations copied many of his (ra) styles of administration.

Allah (swt) praised the protection of life and dignity of humans above anything else in the world;

[مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ أَنَّهُ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِي الأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا النَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَلَقَدْ جَاءتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِالبَيِّنَاتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فِي الأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ]

“We prescribed for the children of Israel that whosoever kills another human being without the latter being guilty of murder or corruption in the land, it would be as if he has killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one person, it would be as if he has saved all of mankind” [Quran 5:32].
