On 7 March 2009, Hizb ut-Tahrir Wilayah Pakistan organized a forum entitled, "The inherent flaws of Capitalism vs. the ideal Islamic economic system," in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. On February 20 2009, corresponding to the 26th of Safar 1430 Hijri, Yilmaz Celik, the official spokesman of Hizb ut Tahrir Wilayah of Turkey, was released after the completion of his sentence. He was imprisoned on charges of membership of Hizb ut Tahrir and working to replace the secular regime in Turkey with the rightly guided Khilafah "Caliphate" state.

Hizb ut-Tahrir Wilayah of Iraq issued a widely distributed leaflet, dated 2 Safar 1430 Hijri/28th January 2009, which outlined its view towards the Iraqi elections on Saturday 31st January 2009. The leaflet made it clear that these elections are a crime and that participation in them is Haram.
