Hizb ut-Tahrir Wilayah of Iraq Issues Iraqi Elections Leaflet

Hizb ut-Tahrir Wilayah of Iraq issued a widely distributed leaflet, dated 2 Safar 1430 Hijri/28th January 2009, which outlined its view towards the Iraqi elections on Saturday 31st January 2009. The leaflet made it clear that these elections are a crime and that participation in them is Haram. It reminded the Muslims of Iraq that their participation in such actions could not be on the basis of interests they hoped to accrue, but rather that such matters should be referred to the hukm of Allah (swt).

The leaflet outlined how the elections were designed to cement the colonialist military and political presence within Iraq and were intended to help the colonialists in dominating Iraq and the wider Muslim world. It explained that the elections were based on a model that intended to cause a fragmentation in the country and increase conflict and discord. Accepting these elections, given their true motives, constitutes an acceptance of the whole US imposed occupation and political process that seeks to implant the secular system in Iraq, in order to prevent the Muslims of Iraq ruling by whatever Allah (swt) has revealed.

Finally, there was a reminder that the grave situation facing Iraq and the region could only be addressed by the return of the Islamic Khilafah "Caliphate" on the way of Prophethood which would save Muslims, and indeed the entire world, from the oppression of the disbelievers and colonialists.
