Ramadan & The Gateway to Success

Allah (swt) says,

[شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِيَ أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِّلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِّنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَانِ]

“The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion.” [Al Baqarah: 185]. The blessed month of Ramadan is an ideal time for us as Muslims to reflect upon and re-evaluate our relationship with Allah (swt), as well as how we view our true purpose and criterion in life, and how we define what success is in life and how we achieve it. It is a month therefore that holds the potential of providing us a ‘Gateway to Success’.

In the societies we live in, we are surrounded by many viewpoints, influences and pressures that can shape our view of success. However, what is Islam’s view on success and how do we achieve this in our individual actions, our marriages, family life, financial matters and other areas of our life, and what is the correct view of the successful woman according to Islam? Furthermore, a Muslim seeks not only to achieve success for themselves but also for the Muslim Ummah and for our Deen. So, as a Muslim Ummah, how should we view a successful and progressive nation and state, and how can we achieve this goal in our Muslim lands? What is the successful recipe to solve the multitude of political, economic and social problems that we currently face? And what characteristics are required of us as Muslims to achieve victory for our Ummah and our Deen in this world?

These questions and more will be addressed in a theme organized by the Women’s Section in the Central Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir this Ramadan entitled: “Ramadan & The Gateway to Success”. The theme can be followed at the links below. We pray that this theme will be a means to enlighten the path for this Ummah to achieve true success in this life and the next Insha Allah.

[ذَلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهِ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ * الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيمُونَ الصَّلاةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَاهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ * والَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلِكَ وَبِالآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ * أُوْلَـئِكَ عَلَى هُدًى مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَأُوْلَـئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ]

“This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah – who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them. And who believe in what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], and what was revealed before you, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]. Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are successful.” [Al-Baqarah: 2-5]
