Press Release
Unquestionably, Evil is what they Rule
(Translated)

In a new precedent, never to occur before in Egypt or anywhere else in the world, the Minya Criminal Court issued a decision to refer the papers of 529 defendants to the Grand Mufti, in preparation for sentencing them to death, in the case of the attack on Matay police station in Minya. If executed, this would be the largest case of mass execution in the world. In the Nuremberg trials, which are the most famous of the modern history, in which twenty-four of the Nazi leadership war criminals who have caused in the murder of millions, were tried, death sentences were only issued on 12 of the accused, while some were acquitted and others were sentenced to prison.

Despite the surprise of some legal supporters of the current authority of the sweeping attack on this decision and them trying to justify it being not a final ruling that is not the issue here. Rather, what raises the question is the swift issuance of this decision by the court. The case has been reserved for the rule, two days after its first procedural session. In the second session, a referral decision was issued without allowing the defendants to present their case, call witnesses, or even listen to the lawyers. Can anyone be silent about such a hasty decision? They are desperate attempts to instill terror in the hearts of youth who yearn for change. It is also an attempt to silence any voice of opposition.

A simple comparison between these harsh sentences against protesters and between the acquittal jubilee and the lenient sentences issued against the symbols of the former regime accused of killing protesters, show us in which direction the current authority is heading and what it seeks?!

We, at Hizb ut Tahrir, denounce such harsh judgments and say to those who issued this decision, that the banner raised in the courts halls saying, "Justice is the basis of governance", means that justice with all the people, the believers and the disbelievers, the rich and the poor, the powerful ones and the weak ones among them, the white and the black, the superior and the subordinate, the ruler and the ruled, He (swt) says:

[وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَآنُ قَوْمٍ عَلَى أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا اعْدِلُوا هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَى]

"And do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just: that is nearer to righteousness." [Al-Ma'ida: 8]

i.e. don't let your enmity and hostility for a people lead you to oppressing them, but justice must be with everyone, whether they are friends or enemies. Is this what you did?

Safety and security will not be achieved for the people, but in light of the second Khilafah "Caliphate" state whose time has approached and its era has emerged. By it alone: blood, honors and properties will be protected, and people will be tried fairly. O, Allah we ask you to hasten its establishment, it is You who is, Excellent is the Protector and Excellent is the Helper.

"Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice. Excellent is that which Allah instructs you. Indeed, Allah is ever Hearing and seeing." [An-Nisa: 58]
