Cabinet Reshuffle Seen as Encouraging Sign for Tanzania's Democracy
Recently, changes were made to the Cabinet by the government of Tanzania by ap-pointing new Ministers and their assistants. It was also time to appoint Ministers to fill the vacant positions after sackings following the wildlife scandal last month. We in Hizb ut Tahrir in East Africa would like to elaborate the following points:
1. Changes in the Cabinet are common in Democratic politics. This is used as a strategy by democratic governments to defuse public anger and cover their shame after open humiliation in failure to serve and the revelation of its weakness to all.
2. These Cabinet changes are actually cosmetic and not ideological. Most of the time it is always a case of musical chairs being played around. Never is it a change of ideology or system being followed by democratic governments.
3. Such changes cannot bring any meaningful solutions in reality or alleviate the suffering of the public. Instead, from a wider viewpoint, it intellectually stagnates the common public that changes have been made while in reality only faces have changed but the Capitalist ideology and its general political, economic and social systems remain intact. The major issue being the principle of separation of religion from life and using the measure of benefit in actions which overrides all democratic system politicians and turns them into corruption, embezzlement and greed.
We in Hizb ut Tahrir in East Africa openly state that what is required in the world today is radical change to remove the whole Capitalist ideology, its cardinal principles and all systems. In its place, we spread the Islamic ideology under the shade of Khilafah "Caliphate" state. Only then will man be liberated and get comfort in this life and the hereafter. This is a challenge to keen thinkers to study and research about Islamic ideology solutions so as to understand by themselves how Islam has concrete abili-ties to solve man's basic problems and not only secondary ones.
