Slander Will Never Halt the March to Khilafah Hizb ut Tahrir Delivers Legal Notice to Geo News Channel for Airing Fabricated Report

Hizb ut Tahrir has delivered a legal notice to Geo News Channel in response to air a false and fabricated report regarding its methodology. This legal notice has been sent in response to a false and fabricated report which was broadcasted on the night of 18th December 2013 in their program "Aaj Kamran Khan ke Sath". In this program it was claimed that Hizb ut Tahrir has claimed the responsibility of conducting a bomb attack on military personal in Hangu which murdered five soldiers of the Pakistan armed forces.

After the airing of this news report, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Pakistan on 23rd December 2013 issued a 'Letter of Clarification', in which Hizb ut Tahrir denied and refuted this defamation and clarified that Hizb ut Tahrir conducts political and intellectual struggle following the methodology of Messenger of Allah (saw) and considers material or militant activity Haram for the cause of establishing Khilafah "Caliphate". Therefore the Geo News channel was requested to air the statement of Hizb ut Tahrir in the same manner as they aired the false and fabricated report. This 'Letter of Clarification' was issued on our websites and was sent to the Geo head office in Karachi as well.

Despite the lapse of one full calendar month, the administration put aside the basic principles of journalism and unbiased reporting, for it has not aired the clarification from Hizb ut Tahrir. So, Hizb ut Tahrir has now sent a legal notice to Geo news channel of its intent to pursue legal prosecution for defamation. In this notice, it is stated that, "Hizb ut Tahrir cannot even think of killing a Muslim because it is Haram as per Islam. Moreover Hizb ut Tahrir is calling the armed forces for Nussrah (Support) to secure the re-establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate", so it is nonsense to even suggest it would harm the same armed forces in any way whatsoever." It is further stated in the notice that if Geo channel does not air the 'Letter of Clarification' from Hizb ut Tahrir issued on 23rd of December 2013 within ten days after receiving this legal notice, then Hizb ut Tahrir, through its legal representation, will initiate Civil as well as Criminal proceedings.
