Press Release
People Queued at Bakeries
Confirms the Government's Inability and Failure to Provide the Basic Elements of Life (bread)
(Translated)

On Monday, 13/8/2018, Al-Akhbar Newspaper reported that a man has stabbed three people with a knife causing them serious bodily harm in a row in Omdurman, Salha district. This is because one man jumped the queue to get the bread on the backdrop of the bread crisis. The newspaper reported that a large number of bakeries were closed due to lack of flour. A number of bakery owners in different areas in Khartoum announced the reduction of the amount of flour to 40% from previous quantities since major mills stopped their work because of the high dollar price. The newspaper quoted the Chairman of the Industry Committee in Parliament, Abdullah Masar, saying that all flour mills in Sudan stopped working due to the rise in the price of one tonne of wheat globally to 230 dollars.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Sudan affirm the following:

1- The reason for the high prices is the government policies; prices have risen with the 2018 budget, where the government increased taxes significantly, and raised the customs dollar from 6 to 18 pounds. This has resulted in the high cost of all goods, especially the necessary ones, related to the livelihood of the people. Islam has forbidden everything that causes the increase in prices, including taxes, customs and the like. The Prophet (saw) said:

«مَنْ دَخَلَ فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْ أَسْعَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ لِيُغْلِيَهُ عَلَيْهِمْ فَإِنَّ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى أَنْ يُقْعِدَهُ بِعُظْمٍ مِنْ النَّارِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ»

“Whoever interferes in the prices of Muslims to make it expensive for them, then it is truly up to Allah, blessed be He, to set him up with great fire on the Day of Judgment”.

2- The government's adoption of capitalist policies is what brought down the country in crisis. The government continues in its error, and engages in implementing the disastrous policies of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank despite the obvious corruption of these institutions. This is one of the main causes of the crisis, and the solutions they offer are real failure. They impoverished the country, and humiliated the people.

3- We also warn the government of the bad consequences of the injustice that it inflicts upon the people, because of its continued failed policies, despite the respite that Allah gives to it, the Prophet (saw) said:

«إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُمْلِي لِلظَّالِمِ حَتَّى إِذَا أَخَذَهُ لَمْ يُفْلِتْهُ»Verily, Allah Almighty will give respite to the wrongdoer until he seizes him and he cannot escape. These policies inevitably generate injustice among the people of the country, and lead inevitably to such stabbing incidents and intensity of rivalry between them, as a result of competing for their basic needs, after the inability of the ruling regime to provide for them. The Prophet (saw) said: «الإِمَامُ رَاعٍ وَهُوَ مَسْئُولٌ عَنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ»“The Imam is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock.”

The failure of the government to provide the basic elements of life (bread) after it led, with its false policies, to the deterioration of the economy, and the collapse of the currency against the dollar; all confirms the failure of the system applied on the people, because it is a system that is not based on looking after the affairs of the people, but on the collection of taxes and wasting of wealth, allowing the evil institutions of the West to plunder it.  This confirms what Hizb ut Tahrir has repeatedly expressed, and with absolute confidence, that there is no cure for our problems in Sudan, or in any Muslim country, except through the implementation of Allah's law:

﴿فَمَنِ اتَّبَعَ هُدَايَ فَلا يَضِلُّ وَلا يَشْقَى * وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَنْ ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنْكًا وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَى

“…then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter] * And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” [Ta-ha: 123-124]

And this is only carried out by the Khilafah Rashida state (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood which will stop the meddling of the colonists, utilize the energies of the Ummah, and extract its wealth for the good of the people.

O our People in Sudan:

Respond to the caller to Allah, and work with the workers to restore the Khilafah Rashida on the method of Prophethood; by it you will get the glory in the world, and gain Allah’s pleasure in the Hereafter,

﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ

“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.” [Al-Anfal: 24]
