Militia and Armed Group Formation: A Grave Danger and an American Tool to Fragment Sudan
(Translated)
On Saturday, November 16, 2024, an armed group calling itself the Liberation Movement of Al-Jazirah announced its intention to "liberate Al-Jazirah State." It also expressed its support for the armed forces. In a video circulated by media outlets and some pro-army journalists, the group called on the people of Al-Jazirah to rally around it and embrace its objectives.
As usual, the military leadership turned a blind eye and refrained from commenting! Earlier, on October 29, a group calling itself the Eastern Battalion,a military faction affiliated with the so-called Popular Front for Liberation and Justice, one of the movements that signed the Juba Agreement in 2020, announced the deployment of its forces in Kassala State in eastern Sudan. According to Sudan Tribune, the Assistant General Commander of these forces stated, "This step was taken after technical and military consultations with the armed forces, and our forces are now part of the armed forces."
Previously, an individual named Keikil defected from the Rapid Support Forces and declared allegiance to the army but continued to operate under a militia banner called the Sudan Shield Forces.
From basic political, military, and security understanding, it is evident that the proliferation of armies and armed groups is a colonial tool aimed at tearing apart nations and undermining their security by igniting tribal and regional conflicts. The clearest evidence of this is the secession of South Sudan and the preparation of other Sudanese regions for similar outcomes. This is part of an American plan acknowledged by ousted President Omar al-Bashir, who stated in a 2017 interview with Sputnik that “the separation of the South was due to American pressure and conspiracy, and America is working to divide Sudan into five countries.” This plan aligns with the so-called New Sykes-Picot, which aims to further divide already fragmented Muslim lands, a scheme known as Bernard Lewis' Blood Borders project.
Why, then, do the loyalists within the military accept the existence of other forces under different banners? Why aren’t these forces integrated under the command and control of the army? Has the military leadership not learned from the suffering endured by Sudan’s people due to the creation of the Rapid Support Forces as a separate entity with independent leadership from the armed forces?
The unity of the armed forces is synonymous with the unity of the Ummah and its entity. This also necessitates the unity of its leadership, a matter that must not be compromised. Islam calls for unity and forbids division, as the Prophet (swt) said:
«إذا بُويِعَ لِخَلِيفَتَيْنِ، فاقْتُلُوا الآخِرَ منهما»
“When allegiance is sworn to two caliphs kill the second of them.”[Muslim].
Article 66 of the Draft Constitution of the Khilafah (Caliphate) states: "The entire army shall be unified into a single force, stationed in designated camps. Some of these camps must be located in various states, others in strategic locations, while some shall be mobile camps with permanent mobility, acting as strike forces. These camps shall be organized into multiple groups, each referred to as an army, numbered accordingly, e.g., the First Army or Third Army, or named after a state or district."
What is happening today, however, is the execution of the second phase of the criminal American plan to fragment Sudan, following the secession of the South due to the betrayal of rulers and the negligence of institutions responsible for preserving the country.
We, in Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Sudan, warn the rulers against pursuing this plot and affirm that the consequences of this heinous crime will bring disgrace and shame in this world and severe punishment in the Hereafter. We also call upon the sincere members of the armed forces to grant support to Hizb utTahrir, the trustworthy guide who does not deceive its people, to establish the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood. This will implement the rule of Allah, apply His Sharia, unify the Ummah, and uproot the colonialists who aim to control our resources and exploit our wealth. The Prophet (swt) said: «مَن مَاتَ وَليسَ في عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ، مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً»“and one who dies without having sworn allegiance will die the death of one belonging to the Days of Ignorance.” [Muslim].
