The Khilafah: The Ummah's Project for Change and the Crown of Obligations

Under this title, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Sudan held its regular forum, the Forum on the Ummah's Issues, which this month, the month of Rajab, was held to commemorate the anniversary of the destruction of the Khilafah (Caliphate), marking 104 years since its fall in Rajab 1342 AH.

Two papers were presented at the forum. The first paper was presented by Ustaadh Hatim Jaafar, a lawyer and member of the Hizb ut Tahrir Council in Wilayah Sudan, titled "The Khilafah: The Ummah’s Project for Change." He discussed three main points: the nature and status of the Khilafah, the conditions of the Lausanne Conference on 22 December 1922, the British House of Commons' celebration of its destruction, and the statement by George Curzon, the British Foreign Secretary. The second point addressed the concept of the Ummah in language and the Islamic Shariah. The third point discussed change, emphasizing that the Ummah is one and dynamic as a single entity, referencing the Arab Spring revolutions. He stated that if the people had answered two critical questions: Who are we? What is the disease we suffer from, and when did it begin? They would have achieved their goals, with the Khilafah being the project for change.

The second paper was presented by Hizb member Ustaadh Yaqub Ibrahim, titled "The Khilafah: The Crown of Obligations." He explained the status of the Khilafah and its obligatory nature with evidence from the Quran, Sunnah, the Ijmaa’ Sahabah (Consensus of the Companions), and Islamic legal principles. He mentioned the statements of reputable scholars regarding the Khilafah's status and obligation and discussed the fear of world leaders from the Kufar about its return.

The forum's moderator, Ustaadh Lawyer Muhammad Abdel Fattah then opened the floor for questions and comments. Notable contributions included participation from Ustaadh Asim Al-Bilal, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Akhbar Al-Youm Newspaper. The forum's platform then addressed the questions and comments.
