UK launches air strikes on ISIL targets in Syria

Warplanes struck ISIL just hours after parliament approved Cameron's motion. British fighter planes have struck suspected ISIL targets in Syria, just hours after MPs approved a motion authorising the use of military force against the group.

A British Ministry of Defence spokesman confirmed to Al Jazeera that Tornado jets had returned to base after conducting combat missions against the group on Thursday.

The jets "employed Paveway IV guided bombs to conduct strikes against six targets within the extensive oilfield at Omar, 35 miles (56km) inside Syria’s eastern border with Iraq," the statement said.

Addressing parliament on Wednesday, Cameron said high-precision, laser-guided Brimstone missiles attached to the Tornado GR4 bombers would help to make a real difference by hitting the ISIL capital of Raqqa and its oil-trading business. (Source: Al Jazeera and agencies)

Comment:

Britain has now joined the melee apparently to protect the streets of London. Putin is ‘avenging’ the downing of the Russian plane in Sinai. US has been involved to protect on-going self-interests in the region. France is ‘avenging’ Paris attack. And now Germany is sending ships to support the effort.

Where is the effort to protect the innocent women and children? Who is there to help the Ummah?

The enemies of Islam and the Muslims look after their self-interests primarily above everything and everyone one else. The limited participation of our Muslim military is still acting only in concert and obedience to the objectives of the Kuffar, not to protect the Ummah nor for their benefit. If the leaders of Turkey wanted to save the Muslims in Syria, they could have done so from the very beginning instead of merely being a witness to slaughter.

Rasulullah (saw) has conveyed and implemented Islam which carries within it the solution, the system with which we are able to organise ourselves and defend our people, land and look after our interests. Not only to fight the clear enemies of Islam, but also those that wear the cloak of Islam but in reality are fulfilling the cold-blooded objectives of the Kuffar.
