News Right Now: In the Aftermath of Genocide

Welcome to today's episode ‘In the Aftermath of Genocide’...

This year, the 11th July commemorated 25 years since the devastating genocide of Muslims at Srebrenica, which saw Muslim Bosnia's men, women and children stripped of their autonomy, rounded up and massacred for no reason other than their ethnic and religious Islamic identity. The commemoration is marked by Muslims all over the world as one of the worst atrocities to have befallen the Ummah in recent history, and one which hailed many promises that are yet to be fulfilled.

The fortnight of fear saw Serbian forces led by general Ratco Miladic, unleash a series of horrors upon the Muslim population of Srebrenica in which men and teenage boys were mercilessly slaughtered, homes burned, women raped and even young children’s throats were slit. This genocide took place directly under the watch of the UN and their Dutch and Canadian troops on the ground.

The Dutch bases which were supposed to act as safe havens for the population of Srebrenica, repeatedly failed to protect these innocent people.. denying them entry to safe houses and quite literally handing over the lives of thousands of Muslim men to Serb units, knowing full well they would be killed. Likewise air attacks on the Serbian military were halted to protect a few Dutch hostages... clearing a path for their campaign of death. Given the direct involvement and abject failure of the UN - the absurdity of Former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan’s statement, "The tragedy of Srebrenica will forever haunt the history of the United Nations”, - reveals the vile rhetoric of the redundant puppet organisation that the UN is.

What is also incomprehensible about this massacre is that the Bosnian Muslims were not a recently settled, impoverished or ghetto minority, who might be expected to face intolerance and hatred in Europe? Rather the Muslims of Bosnia are the ingenious population of thousands of years, whose acceptance of Islam dates back to the 7th century when Muslim armies first fought along the borders of the Byzantine empire.

Twenty five years ago, the rulers of the Muslims included the Saudi King Fahad, Ms Benazir Bhutto of Pakistan, King Hussein of Jordan and Suliman Demirel of Turkey. Among others these leaders abandoned their God given responsibility towards the Muslim Ummah, and exposed their total weakness in the face of the UN and NATO members, when they failed to even highlight the dire human rights abuses which had been gathering momentum for three years in Bosnia Hertsogovina... ultimately leading to these fateful events.

These rulers were notoriously weak and their cowardice in the face of the Serbian and Croat genocide was a huge betrayal of the thousands of innocent Muslim civilians - this despite their own military might and potential political clout.

Instead these Muslim rulers guaranteed the interests of their allies - the NATO countries, who enabled the Serbian agenda for their own strategic interests. And not only did the Muslim rulers’ silence facilitate the genocide, their legacy of compliance and cowardice, clearly laid the foundations for the reliance and servitude of their predecessors today.

Despite the few pathetic judicial admonishments since the great tragedy, and the UN rhetoric of ‘lessons learned’... it's clear that the global institutions have no political will to serve the interests of humanity. The same sordid nation state politics that dates back to colonial interests and practices is played out in every continent has affected every Muslim country and most of the global south. In Syria, Kasmir, Xinjiang, and in Myanmar the Rohingya Muslims, all are stripped of their autonomy before massacre after massacre is unleashed against them, as the world watches on justifying false narratives of extremism and splitting hairs over already disingenuous arguments about ethnicity and ancestry, UN resolutions and regional politics.

The absence of the Islamic Khilafah has heralded an era of tribulations that cannot possibly be resolved without a sincere Muslim leader and adequate military might.

Allah swt says...

”It is He Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad SAW) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikun (polytheists, pagans, idolaters, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) hate (it).” (Surah At Tawbah, 33)
