News Right Now: Heightened Fear

This genocide has seen massive support from Muslims all around the world for Palestinians; and Muslims in America too have led huge demonstrations against the Zionist entity in Washington, Chicago and other cities in America. As well as this Muslims in America have created and shared vast amounts of social media content around the injustice of the Zionist regime; and the truth about the Palestinian issue has reached tens of millions.

As a result of their support for the Palestinians, for speaking openly about the vile and inhumane crimes of the Zionist entity, and the media, many Muslims in America have unfortunately fallen victim to a new wave of Islamophobia. There has been a noticeable rise in the numbers of women in hijab who have become the primary targets of hate, and many are suffering from prejudice on a daily basis. Some Muslims have been subject to anti -Palestinian hate speech, others sworn and even spat at, as well as many who have been assaulted in supermarkets and parks. Others have been singled out at airports, and in Canada a poll revealed that 1 in 4 Canadians don’t trust Muslims.

The most harrowing incidents are undeniably the fatal stabbing of the 6-year-old boy Wadea Al Fayoume, who was murdered by his neighbor and landlord 71-year-old Joseph Czuba, for no reason other than his Palestinian heritage. As well as a 20-year-old Palestinian youth who hasn’t been named, was hit by a car as the driver was shouting “DIE’, and “kill all Palestinians, long live Israel”. The young man remains in a coma in critical condition.

It's undeniable that the mainstream media which is, and always has been, a mouthpiece for government narratives and agendas, and has been proven to be so time and again - has once again been pivotal in amplifying the lies and propaganda against the Palestinian people and Hamas since October 7th. The outrageous lies about the rape of attendees at the music festival, and the beheading of babies by Hamas and even Palestinian citizens, were circulated by supposedly responsible journalists from prominent news channels. Even after these and other lies were proven to be baseless and devoid of evidence, even by the Zionists’ sources – news agencies around the world retracted their statements. Only for so called ‘independent’ news outlets, and chat shows, with their Zionist show hosts throughout Europe and America, to have continued to perpetuate and exacerbate the very same lies, and many, more; absolving themselves from any accountability.

As well as this, the clear objective of the media is to justify the Zionist entity’s “right to defend itself”. Every single news anchor and show host begins an interview with a Palestinian, Arab or Muslim, by asking the loaded question, “Do you condemn Hamas?” and “Don’t you think Israel has the right to defend itself?”. The purpose of this is to make the Zionist entity’s inhumane actions appear necessary, and to justify the lack of condemnation of the UK, US and European governments as well as their complicity in the Zionist entity’s objectives. (This is just one, among other aims the media has, to restate their imperialist standards, which they seek to bind Muslims and all people of color to).

Likewise, the mainstream media continues to present the genocide as a war of equals. Each side supposedly with a similar claim to the land, and each side suffering identical harm from the other. Also, by presenting the issue as one that began on October 7th, 2023, and effectively deleting all mention of the original land of Palestine, its noble, history, culture and sublime values, as well as its material, social and educational progress before it was placed under the British mandate and eventually gifted to the exiled European Jews. This narrative only serves to dehumanize the entire nation, ignoring the decades of resilience and resistance, the suffering under occupation, the usurping of more and more land, the illegal settlements, the intifadas of the brave, and the political interference of the West. Through all this the American media has only proved its nefarious agenda to confuse its own citizens and obfuscate the facts; including hiding the numbers of attendees of the pro-Palestinian protests throughout the world, and the positive opinions of the millions who support the Palestinian cause. All of which has obviously played a huge part in generating hate and hate crimes against Arab and Muslim Americans.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, social media, which many people use to get immediate access to information about events on the ground in any given location, and which is usually believed to be a more trustworthy source – has also been used in the wider government and media war against the Palestinians. Meta, which includes Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, as well as Twitter, YouTube and most search engines including Google – have all actively removed hundreds of accounts and searches, dedicated to highlighting the minute by minute atrocities carried out by the Zionist entity. Likewise, pages that advocate Islamic solutions and the correct Islamic stance on these issues of occupation, war and genocide, have been removed and permanently barred. Even individual accounts of hundreds of thousands of users, who are liking, sharing and commenting on the horrendous images coming out of Ghaza hour by hour, are blocked either temporarily or permanently, and the criteria of ‘hate speech’ has been shifted to one that often simply criticizes the Zionist entity or its advocates.

Notably, Facebook’s decision to silence Hizb ut-Tahrir during this critical time conveys a clear message: voices that challenge the status quo and seek to reveal the truth are unwelcome on the platform. This move highlights that the true purpose of Facebook is only to promote the narrative being designed in Washington, and you cannot challenge the narrative, no matter how evil and fake it is. Facebook’s actions serve as a clear example of the hypocrisy within the platform. Despite presenting itself as a guardian of free expression, its selective censorship exposes a different reality in which dissenting voices are muted, and narratives supporting the massacre of Palestinians and the protection of treacherous regimes are endorsed.

The hour has come whereby Western hypocrisy has been clearly exposed beyond any doubt! Every single value the West has championed, via its secular, liberal framework of Capitalism has proven to be weak and incapable of bringing any lasting goodness to societies. Rather every cherished value of freedom, benefit, individualism, nationalism and secularism has generated monstrous results. Those who believe in these defunct values are truly lost. Yet those who actively embody and uphold these values, taking them to their natural conclusion - an example of which is support for the Zionists - can be no more than a people seeped in hatred, and who omit a stench of harm and ruination upon society.

The ideas that legitimize the living genocide we are witnessing, which cannot even call for a cease fire or for humanitarian relief, in the face of men, women and innocent children suffering beyond what any words can describe, only proves that these so called ‘enlightened’, ‘civilised’, ‘progressive’, values are no more than morally corrupt values at best and - if not a means to harnessing pure evil; expecting this abhorrent Western framework to carry the Islamic thoughts and deliver our Islamic solutions to the reality in Gaza and beyond, is literally inconceivable now that we can clearly see what it is that Western Democracy really stands for.

May Allah az wajal open the eyes of all the Muslims, our Ulema, our leaders and all those within the armies and the righteous militia worldwide to the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, Ameen.
