When we as Muslims think about the woman’s role in media, there are two prevalent realities that come to mind. The first is based on the current reality which we see across the world where women and girls are most often objectified and exploited across the various mediums of media, by being dressed in revealing clothing,

Islam is concerned with the health of bodies, the Prophet (saw) said: «إِنَّ لِجَسَدِكَ عَلَيْكَ حَقّاً» “Your body has a right over you,”. It is the right of the body that you should feed and water it with what will benefit it and keep away from what harms it, protect it from diseases, and treat it if it is ill. Islam prohibited everything that causes human death or weakness.

The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: «كَانَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ تَسُوسُهُمْ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ كُلَّمَا هَلَكَ نَبِيٌّ خَلَفَهُ نَبِيٌّ وَإِنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدِي وَسَيَكُونُ خُلَفَاءُ فَيَكْثُرُونَ»، قَالُوا: فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا؟ قَالَ: «فُوا بِبَيْعَةِ الْأَوَّلِ فَالْأَوَّلِ أَعْطُوهُمْ حَقَّهُمْ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سَائِلُهُمْ عَمَّا اسْتَرْعَاهُمْ»“The Banu Isra'il were ruled by the Prophets. When one Prophet died, another succeeded him. There will be no Prophet after me. Caliphs will come after me, and they will be many.”

At the end of 2021, the largest Muslim country, namely Indonesia, was rocked by news of sexual violence and the heated pros and cons of its prevention policies. There was fierce debate at home about how to solve the violence against women, especially among women's activist groups, university academics, community leaders as well as policy makers.
