By now everyone has heard of the premeditated massacre of Muslims in Christchurch, New Zealand, where 28 year old Brenton Tarrant brazenly walked into a masjid, unloading a barrage of bullets on unarmed worshippers attending salatul jummah. The killer released a manifesto, documenting his hate for Muslims. He even decorated his automatic weapon with dates of battles between Christian and Muslim armies stemming back to the Middle Ages.
His manifesto also expressed his disdain for Turkey, and its predecessor, the Uthmani Khilafah. The killer saw himself as a crusader against Islam and defending Christianity. But his hatred and political motivations weren’t created in a vacuum. Rather, they are a predictable response to nearly two-decades of rhetoric and political machinations, led by states, governments, politicians, and the media that portray Islam and Muslims as the biggest enemy of the West.
In that context, quote-unquote “lone wolf” attacks are not isolated incidents, but are the direct result of a political climate created by the system to justify its foreign policy misadventures in the Muslim world. Western governments create a climate of hatred against the quote-unquote savagery of Islam to justify the invasion of Muslim countries. Even the New Zealand Prime Minister increased New Zealand troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and ran on an anti-immigration platform.
The natural by-product of this hatred of Islam, are groups that attack and murder Muslims that has been seen time and again in the West, and most recently in New Zealand. As horrific as the murder in New Zealand was, it pales in comparison to the sustained and systemic attacks against Muslims in Myanmar, Syria, Kashmir, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, and others.
The New Zealand massacre received world attention because of its lone-wolf nature, but the Muslims are butchered and massacred en masse by nations and governments all over the world... a fact that the mainstream media fails to mention.
In both the case of New Zealand and the other places where Muslims have been and continue to be attacked, the sense of vulnerability cannot escape us. Since the Muslims have been without a caliphate it is clear to see that attacks are more emboldened and more frequent. As long as the Ummah is without sincere leadership to protect it as a whole, we will only remain more vulnerable.
