The Audacity of the West over the Muslims’ Sanctities

By the first World War, the Khilafah was already in dire straits. When WWI was about to end, the French army under Commander Henri Gouraud entered Damascus and he went straight to Salahuddin’s tomb, kicked it and proclaimed; “The Crusades have ended now! Awake Saladin, we have returned! My presence here consecrates the victory of the Cross over the Crescent!”. The same tune reverberated again when General Edmund Allenby entered Baitul Maqdis through the Jaffa Gate and declared that “the wars of the crusades are now complete”. These events marked the early beginnings of the West showing its audacity in consecrating the sanctities of Muslims and Islam. The abolition of the Khilafah in 1924 was the final blow on the State that had protected Muslims and Islam for more than one thousand years. It seems like the West had had its revenge.
But no, their spite and hatred of Islam do not end there. The fall of the Khilafah signals the intensification of Western audacity over the sanctities of Muslims and Islam. Although Western imperialism had been born much earlier and Muslim lands had been conquered even before the fall of the Khilafah, now, the West has a free hand in perpetrating state crimes over the Muslims without resistance from any power on earth!! And as if to rub salt on a fresh wound, the West helped establish the Jewish entity and Muslim blood was spilled in the Blessed Land – and also in North Africa, Indonesia, India and all the colonized Muslim lands. The property and honour of Muslims which are sanctified in Islam were robbed relentlessly from them. This is clearly seen in a hadith where Rasulullah (saw), when he was doing tawaf around the Ka’bah looked at it and said:
«مَا أَطْيَبَكِ وَأَطْيَبَ رِيحَكِ مَا أَعْظَمَكِ وَأَعْظَمَ حُرْمَتَكِ وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَحُرْمَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ أَعْظَمُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ حُرْمَةً مِنْكِ مَالِهِ وَدَمِهِ وَأَنْ نَظُنَّ بِهِ إِلَّا خَيْرًا»
“How good you are and how good is your fragrance; how great you are and how great your sanctity. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad, the sanctity of a believer is greater before Allah than your sanctity; his blood and his wealth, and to think anything but good of him.”
Muslims who are now at loss and unable to stand up against these crimes are but an impetus for the West to gain their villainous confidence in attacking Muslims from all angles.
When Islam was established under the Khilafah, these sanctities were jealously protected but since its fall, these sanctities are precariously hanging on a thread held by the blood stained, contaminated hands of the kuffar!! It grieves us, Muslims, to look at our history of the past 100 years; and for those who had lived to see the atrocities that the West had perpetrated on them, those crimes and the audacity of the West in violating these sanctities will never be forgiven!!
O Muslims of today!
The Muslims of today’s generation may have forgotten or disregarded the crimes and audacity of the West and the suffering of the past Muslim Ummah, but nay, in reality, we are witnessing the Western barbarity at its worst. Muslim blood, honour and properties are still not safe from their wicked hands. Western imperialism, in the form of ‘war against terror’ has caused countless deaths and suffering of millions of Muslims. War in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bosnian war, silence and support of regimes such as that of Myanmar – these are clear examples of Muslim sanctities being horrendously desecrated by the West.
In today’s world where mainstream and social media are ubiquitous, the West has relentlessly violated other sanctities of Muslims and Islam in the form of attacks against our culture and our pillars of Aqeedah. Under the guise of ‘freedom of speech and expression’, the West has the audacity to justify insults being targeted at our honorable Prophet, Rasulullah (saw). We have witnessed insult after insult being hurled at our honorable Prophet and several of the most heinous attacks and insults were justified by the West in the name of ‘freedom of expression’. In 2015, the French satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, published caricatures of the Prophet and in 2020, they did it again. And each time, the French government backed the ‘right’ of the magazine to ‘freely express its opinion’! Everyone realizes the double standard manifested by the West in this issue. In fact, it is a well-known ‘secret’ that what purports to be ‘freedom of expression’ is nothing but an illusion used within the Western political framework to allow the vilification of beliefs, yet when people point their fingers back to the corruption of secular liberal societies and governments, they are instantly alienated and labelled ‘extremists’, thus exposing the hypocrisy of this ‘freedom’.
Besides this blatant audacity of the West in attacking Rasulullah (saw), for the past few decades, the West have overstepped the boundary uncountable times! With Islamophobia on the rise, the West now possesses a weapon which allows them to pass the baton of insults and attacks to non-Western agents in the form of governments such as India, China and Myanmar where Muslims are a minority in those countries and there is already traditional enmity against Islam.
Insults hurled against Rasulullah (saw) are bad enough; the audacity of the West extends beyond this - insults against the Quran, attacks on Muslim women, state sanctioned policies that discriminate against Muslims, declaration of Baitul Maqdis as the capital of the Jewish entity and various other ideological attacks over our sanctities continue until this day. And unfortunately, the overwhelming indoctrination of Western thoughts and culture in Muslim countries has also given birth to some Muslims who have sold their soul to the West and have themselves become agents of audacity in attacking the sanctities of Islam.
O Muslims!
Even when the Khilafah was at its weakest points, the Khalifah had never tolerated anyone overstepping the sanctities of Islam. We have heard stories of Sultan Abdul Hamid II threatening jihad against the West for having the audacity to try to insult the Prophet (saw). We have also heard how the same Sultan rejected the request of the Jews to have Palestine as their state.
O Muslims!
Isn’t the audacity of the West enough for us to realize that we will continuously face insults and attacks to our sanctities unless the Khilafah is established?
O Muslims!
Establish the Khilafah! Be amongst those who work to establish it. Be amongst those whom the angels will be pleased to invite through the gates of Jannah!!
