Taliban make advances in Kunduz
As the struggle over the city of Kunduz in northern Afghanistan continues, it is becoming increasingly evident that the Taliban is successfully breaking out of the straightjacket previously imposed upon it by the Pakistani military establishment.
According to an AFP report: "Afghan forces battled to flush out Taliban insurgents from Kunduz for a fifth day Friday". "The Taliban launched an all-out assault on Kunduz on Monday, triggering fierce fighting and sending residents fleeing, a year after the militants briefly overran the city in a stinging blow to NATO-backed Afghan forces."
For many years, the Taliban were content with withdrawing to rural areas and leaving the cities to the US-backed Afghan government. However, there has been a dramatic change of strategy after the change in Taliban leadership, which led also to abandoning efforts to begin negotiations with the Afghan government, sponsored by Pakistan, China and the U.S.
Mujahideen the world over can take an important lesson from Afghanistan. The function of the present Muslim governments is to control and restrict jihad against Western forces. Real jihad to eliminate foreign occupation will only happen when the links to these governments are broken.
Russian-American Struggle Continues
According to a BBC report, the US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that Russia and the Syrian government should be investigated for war crimes.
And a post at the Voice of America website reports "Russia warned of serious legal consequences Friday arising from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry's comment that Moscow and Damascus should be investigated for war crimes as a result of their airstrikes on civilian targets in Syria."
At the same time, America and Russia are entering into conflict with one another is other theatres also, such as nuclear agreements and Baltic Sea security. The Associated Press, for example, reported yesterday on deepening military ties between the US and Finland through signing a new pact, and the VOA, also yesterday, cites Russian discussion of reopening Russian military facilities in Cuba and Vietnam, and Reuters, yesterday, reports Russia moving its nuclear-capable missiles into Kaliningrad, its enclave in Eastern Europe between Poland and Lithuania.
We are watching today what always happens when Kuffar try to collaborate against Muslims: the mistrust and manouevering between their ranks severely weakens them. It is in reality America that brought Russia into the Syrian war. But neither can Russia trust America, nor can America trust Russia.
America wants Russia to fulfil a very specific role in Syria, and has assigned other roles in Syria to other American agents because America has realised it is too dangerous to keep Syria unified under a single agent when Muslims are returning to Islam. But Russia is not accepting to play the role given to it by America in only one part of Syria, and wants to move to the rest of Syria also.
With Allah's permission, victory is for the Muslims if they remain steadfast on their Deen.
Obama Congratulates Santos over winning Nobel Peace Prize
The Associated Press reports yesterday, "The White House says U.S. President Barack Obama has spoken with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos to congratulate him on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work seeking to end the longest conflict in the Western Hemisphere."
Obama has made a sustained effort in South America to reimpose American control after the Bush administration had neglected the region due to its very heavy involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. The rapprochement with Cuba, and the presumed American assassination of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, together with other favourable regime changes, for example, in Argentina and Brazil indicate the reassertion of American power in the content, which also made possible the resolution of the FARC conflict.
To understand the reality of so-called Western democracy, one need look no further than how America treats what it calls its backyard in South America. The Nobel Prize is an award of the Western establishment for those who serve it loyally, so Santos deservedly won it.
